Four of us came to Quan Vy Da in Ho Chi Minh for dinner, after given a recommendation from a Vietnamese friend. As we were visiting Ho Chi Minh around the time of Lunar New Year, the city was lively, and restaurants were all packed. The previous night we had arrived at around 8pm and turned away as there were no available seats. But the next night we came early around 6pm and secured a table. So just keep in mind that you might need to arrive quite early to get a seat!

We ordered a range of dishes including fried rice, chilli snails, deep-fried frog, Korean ribs, morning glory as well as drinks. The food was absolutely delicious I must say, so if you want authentic and delicious Vietnamese food, I definitely recommend Quan Vy Da.

As for the customer service, however, I did feel that the staff weren't so hospitable towards us. I have read a bunch of previous Google reviews, and it seems this is not the first time foreigners felt unwelcome here. When ordering from the menu, I tried to make it easier, so instead of ordering in English, I called my Vietnamese friend and he translated our order to the staff. Nevertheless, trying to get the waiters' attention was an impossible task and many times we were simply ignored by them. A waiter even rolled her eyes at us when we asked for two cokes. I don't know the reason for this unfriendliness, but I can acknowledge that as foreigners, we are visiting their country and city. Maybe there are unspoken rules that we are breaching, or somehow imposing on them. So I am giving them the benefit of the doubt as we are guests in their country.

Customer service aside, I would recommend visiting Quan Vy Da if you are looking for delicious authentic Vietnamese food at a reasonable price! Thank...

Disappointing - Staff Smoking inside the restaurant 🤮🚬☹️

We came here (like many others) after seeing it on Netflix tv show, Somebody feed Phil. All of his other locations both outside and in Vietnam have been great - but not here.

There were many things off about this place but for us the biggest issue is that people were smoking inside the restaurant. I asked a waiter and he said that it is illegal but it’s fine. Then 5 minutes later one of the other waiters decides to have a smoke sitting one table over from us, discussing!!!

On top of that:

They don’t let you sit out the front (on the street), saying all the out side tables were booked. I asked if I could book one for another night and was told no.

The service is rude at best. They forgot half our order although I think this is a con to sell you more warm beer.

All in all, this place was very disappointing. There are so many other similar options, do yourself a favor,...

Food was okay, staffs was amazingly rude, especially 1 guy who serve our table!!! Not only that, we asked to sit outside but they didnt allow us. I try to pay by card with help by other server, but the other guy who was super rude pushed me from the cashier back to our table (maybe he wanted to count what we had, but actually the other guy was helping us, that because he didnt pay attention! He was on the phone on the back and talk with other staff) you dont need to pushed me or “hush” me!

Bad! Do not come here especially if you are foreigner.

Atmosphere was disaster theres big local group that was soooooo loud.

I saw many tourist try to come because the smell of the food, but they ended left the place. It was stupid decision to spend time and money in this...

Great choice for dinner or supper, reached here around 12am, just a street away from Adora Hotel. They got variety of menu with English & price stated. It could be better if there is any chef recommendation. The Grilled Catfish was a surprise, very fresh fish & combination with lime & the special green sauce. Very good pairing with beer. Grilled Pork Ribs with Honey is nice too, got 6 pcs & good for 3 ppl. The sauce was nice not too sweet & the meat texture was quite tender. The stir fried noodle was a bit disappointed as it use instant noodle & a bit hard. However the ingredient were quite generous with 3 medium prawn, squid, & a few vegetable.
