All my tenants and guests know I'm a die hard Mexican food junkie. We've been to "almost all" the shops, contests, pop-ups... and just surprised by the influx of Mexican food into the Saigon foodie scene over the past decade. This spot is primo and it's been open 2 years. Tacos Fuego tastes like home. From the chili sauces, guacamole, to the smothered "wet" burrito... this joint reminds me of the OC- Orange County SoCal. SUPER fries! With Carne Asada?!??!? Winner. Birria style pan fried taco. Winner. Baja Fish taco. Winner. Asada and ground beef soft tacos. Winner. They even had churros! You get the picture. Winner. A lot of pics actually. Food was fresh, flavors were on point, and authentic too. This was our 1st time here, definitely will not be the last. We still need to try the tortas, quesadillas, and enchiladas. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies so we ordered a bit of everything. Portions are HUGE! Staff is helpful and the owner even stopped by to see how we were doing. Try this place if you're craving the SoCal/OC/San Diego style Mexican grub. You're gonna leave satisfied.

Last night I decided to try out Tacos Fuego. I heard good things from friends. It was quite delicious. The night I came they let me try one of their newest items not quite on the menu. Their carnitas but with pork belly. It was chewy yet had a nice crunch to it. I ordered them in a crunchy shell. The flavors along with the sauces were on point. I also ordered the pan fried birria beef, oh man that one was amazing paired with their spicy sauce. The grilled chicken with a soft tortilla was also delicious. Matthew, the owner was very friendly and explained his vision behind his establishment. He cares about what his customers think, and explained which sauces pair with what, and his recommendations were on point. He is a fellow Californian like myself and I can definitely say his creations reminded me a bit of back home. Keep up the good work 👌

Chicken enchiladas, the green sauce was quite spicy, but that's where the flavor ended. The chicken consisted of small tasteless cubes that appeared minced and pressed into shape, rather off putting. The serving also seemed rather small, photo attached for reference to palm of my hand, so I felt the need to add beans and "Mexican" rice. The beans were nice while not resembling any that I've had before, but the rice lacked any flavor what so ever. I can understand how some can find the meal appealing, especially where authentic ingredients are otherwise few and far between, but perhaps being of latin blood myself, I expect something much more flavorful. Also the 'free' salad bar was extremely underwhelming, I didn't bother... Maybe it's actually a condiments bar and I misunderstood.

OK so I admit there had been beer drinking prior. But beer has never clouded my judgment - it's just made the eat it with your hands (tacos, kebabs, meat on a stick) cravings arrive late. (Usually too late to satisfy here in the ville.)

But I knew TF stayed open till at least 11pm! (midnight on a Saturday & Sunday?) So a couple of tacos were totally in order.

Gotta go for the beer battered fish - ukno vaguely healthy! 😉 And a birria beef! (OM6th ltr of the alphabet G!) it's like 10 hr BBQd brisket! (the fat's all gone into the flavor.) I could have stopped there but then where else can you find refried beans? Gotta have a bowl of beans. (I was ready to order a side of jalapeños to jazz up the frijoles, but they have a salsas sidebar!!!)

I could've stopped there, but I decided to try a side salad! The side salad has chips! (OM6th ltr of the alphabet G! I've got some chips to go with the beans! (& a tasty little side salad too!)

Everything was grand. Hot and fresh - and this at 11pm+!

( Before posting this comment I read through a few previous comments. Somebody whinged about the taco shells could be bigger. Taco Bell & Del taco use 6" shells, but anything with a whiff of authenticity (& all of Mexico) use 4.5" shells.

Someone else bemoaned 'where's the flavor?' The flavor is in the ingredients and preparation - not the shovel full of MSG a lot of local food is ah... sautéed in!)

I reiterate... Late night, hot, fresh and very full of flavor food (& my tongue didn't feel like it was going to fall off from a 1,000 cuts via MSG!)

I'll...

Tacos Fuego – A New Flavor, A Lasting Memory

On June 8th, 2025, after a cozy family movie night, my family of six went online to search for a great place to eat. We browsed a few options and eventually landed on Taco Fuego—and we're so glad we gave it a shot of our evening.

From the very first bite, the food surprised us in the best way. Their tacos and nachos were full of flavor, freshness, and fun, and the mocktails? Honestly, the mocktails were a highlight too—bright, refreshing, and really elevated the whole experience.

But what truly set the evening apart wasn’t just the meal—it was the warmth that came with it. To the manager and your waitress: thank you for your story, your kindness, and the hospitality you so clearly love to share. It made a difference, and it stayed with us.

The service was smooth, the food came out fast, and the whole vibe made for a really memorable family evening. I would highly recommend Taco Fuego to anyone craving Mexican food or just looking for a new favourite...
