I was really looking forward to eat here, but I were greatly disappointed. Firstly there were only one other table in there, when we arrived and they left shortly after. It was incredible cold in the restaurant, despite being 30 degrees outside! No atmosphere what soever. The menu...where do I start! Unless you have lived in Hong Kong, I dont think you stand a chance! The menu was huge and complicated, not written for your average hotel guest. Aimed at Asian guests! Which we are not. We travel an awful lot and love Asian food, but we were beaten!! The waitress told us right away this is not Chinese. This is Hong Kong food, almost to put us off or expected us to walk out! Maybe she is used to that, I don't know! Anyway we didn't!. With a bit of help from our helpful waitress, we managed to order some food, even though our first choice wasn't available! At this stage I was a bit deflated and quite frankly didn't really care what I ate! Anyway the fish and mixed seafood rice we had, was rather nice. I had inteded to go for the whole works, as it was our last day of a long holiday, but it just became too complicated. Considering what they had on this incredible menu, that is not what I had intended to eat after 3 weeks in Asia! They had the most weird and wonderful things on offer, but it's written in such a way, people are scared of ordering because they can't understand it and most dishes are by weight, which always puts me off! Simplify your menu and make it more user friendly for western people and you will be on to a winner!! We would happily have spent a lot of money that night. - But we don't want to read a book, when we go for dinner, short and sweet, straight to the point, does the job! Not to mention, when you have a menu that large, and no guests, the food can't possible be fresh! Which always...
Read moreHow did this place get such high rating? I think most of the reviews are fake. This place is way over price for the quality of the food. Service was ok but definitely not a 5 stars stander. I took my family here on Feb 15th and there were only 2 types of vegetables available. Out of vegetables in Saigon? That is not a good sign. They market themselves as a 5stars restaurant but a lot of items are not available on the menu. We ordered about 14 items but only 2 of them are good (not excellent) and even so the stuffed BBQ pig which we ordered the day before came out cold. How can they messed up on that when we told them exactly what time we will be there? What really upset me was the fact they charged us for these small items of peanut and crackers that they put out on the table (these were there before we even got to the table. 50K dong per small little sauce size bowl) which we didn't ordered or eat. Who would go to a high end restaurant to eat these? It's not like we were in a beer bar. Also, we ordered one tea pot and asked for 3 cups thinking they charge per pot, which was fine that they charge per person. However, they brought out 9 cups in total which again we didn't ask for nor were they used. But they charged for all 9 cups when the bill came. This place was dead when we were there around 7:30pm. I guest they have to money gouge the customers in order to support the slow business. This is just bad business practices. Spend your money somewhere else. There are just too many other good restaurant in Saigon to choose from. Do not recommend this place nor will...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to eating at Tung Garden but have left very disappointed.
Very hard to fault the waitress as she seemed to be serving all tables pretty much on her own and although there were only a handful of tables the kitchen couldn’t keep up.
The menu is huge and not easy to navigate so we picked a few items from the Chef’s suggestion menu which was smaller. The vegetables arrived and given we were hungry we started eating them. Just as well as the next dish, fish, arrived about 20 minutes later. At that point I said to the waitress I want to eat the noodles together and she said the kitchen had problems tonight. Needless to say the noodles arrived about 25 minutes later by which time we had finished the fish dish!
The food was tasty but nothing special.
The restaurant was was quite chilly and no atmosphere whatsoever.
Prices are very high all...
