My first encounter with Nick was after getting dropped off in the wrong street by a taxi.Nick came to the rescue, working out where I had to go, offering to order a taxi etc. Unbelievably friendly. Some may initially question this, but I can assure you it was nothing but genuine kindness, and helpfulness..(with a lot of humour thrown in 😀). The cafe provides an excellent array of coffees, at very reasonable prices, the smoothies are great, and occasionally a sample taste of tiramasu gets thrust in front of you, if Diep is making something in the kitchen 😀 The Atmosphere created at Uncle Nicks is great, conversation flows with everyone, all customers and staff included. For a solo traveller like myself it was a great place to feel included in a Vietnamese family. With help and advice should you need it. Nick is old school, I suppose that's why it's called Uncle Nicks! He helps out, but is mainly there for comic relief, coupled with his general knowledge and useless anecdotes, a born entertainer!! Diep his wife on the other hand (aka The Boss) keeps everything and everyone in check, so it all runs smoothly. The staff, Mai and Lyly are friendly, funny with attention to detail. Other locals mostly speak English and all very welcoming, a few notable characters need mentioning though 🤔 Bu the local celebrity and playboy, also always looking for a worthy opponent at pool. Down /Nguyen journalist extroudinaire, also a pool manic, always looking for the Hollywood shot! And last but not least, Will the wannabe Canadian, who is unfortunately being led astray by the other two!
Thanks guys for making my trip in Saigon truly memorable, it's not really a cafe it's a home from home.
Oh and a big thank you for the invite to the family farm, where I met Dieps wonderful father (plus many relatives), and was surprised with a birthday cake. What can I say.....
I miss you and will be back!
So if you don't go and visit Uncle Nicks you won't know what you are...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place that feels like a warm hug wrapped in the smell of freshly brewed coffee, Uncle Nick’s Coffee is your new happy place. The café is super cute — think lots of cozy green touches, plants everywhere, and a vibe that instantly makes you want to cancel all your plans and just stay there forever.
The coffee? Absolutely delicious. The kind that makes you close your eyes for a second and seriously reconsider drinking anything else ever again. And the breakfast? Let’s just say if I could have packed it up and taken it home in industrial quantities, I would have. Fresh, tasty, and made with obvious love.
Special shoutout to Uncle Nick himself — hilarious, super friendly, and so attentive that we felt like VIPs. He made sure we had everything we needed (and more) and gave us the perfect start to our morning. Honestly, if everyone had an Uncle Nick in their life, the world would be a much happier place.
Highly recommend — go, sip, laugh, eat, and leave 100% happier than...
Read moreI found this cafe on google maps and honestly I’m so happy I did. Out of all the coffee shops in Vietnam, no, I think out of all the coffee shops in general I have been to this has been my favourite. I am only staying in HCMC for a couple of days and I’ve been to this cafe three times and already I feel like a regular and am met with smiles and friendly conversations. If I was in HCMC for longer, rest assured, I would come here every single day. Not only are the staff lovely people, who also even showed me how they make the coffee as I expressed interest but the coffee is genuinely one of the best I have ever had. To top it all off, the prices are so reasonable that I thought that they accidentally didn’t charge me for one of my cups! I honestly could not recommend this place highly enough. Normally I would say if you are in the area you should come and give it a try, but this time, I will go as far to say that this place is worth the...
