5-Star Brunch Experience at WKND, Ho Chi Minh
What a fantastic way to start the new year! Brunch at WKND was nothing short of exceptional. Despite the bustling New Year’s Day crowd, the host—who also happens to be the co-owner—was incredibly accommodating and ensured we were quickly seated. Reservations are highly recommended, but the service felt seamless and personal, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in.
We opted for a mix of crowd favorites: the Eggs Benedict, "Eggs Your Way," and the Little Human Toast for the kids. Every dish was perfectly executed. The Eggs Benedict was a decadent masterpiece, with a rich hollandaise sauce and perfectly poached eggs. The "Eggs Your Way" offered the flexibility of customization, and they did not disappoint, cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients. The Little Human Toast was a hit with the little ones—simple, tasty, and just the right size for tiny hands.
On the drink side, the Matcha Latte was vibrant and smooth, with just the right balance of matcha and creaminess. The Flat White was equally stellar, boasting rich espresso flavor without being overwhelming. To round off the experience, the fresh juice was a refreshing burst of flavor, a perfect complement to the meal.
The vibe of the place is relaxed yet stylish, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a flawless dining experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, WKND is the kind of brunch spot you’ll want to return to again and again. Highly recommend—five stars...
Read moreEverything was great! The space is super relaxing and cool, even out in the garden area. Staff were really attentive, friendly, smart, and quick.
Now the main part I wanted to talk about: I ordered the smoked salmon with rosti - beautifully presented 10/10. I just wish the avocado was swapped out for some kind of greens. It would’ve been perfect with some blanched spinach or something lighter, because everything else was pretty rich: rosti, avocado, eggs benedict, hollandaise sauce. I couldn’t finish it until I ordered a side of sourdough, and that’s when I finally noticed the tangy lemon/lime flavor in the hollandaise. Before that, it was a bit too heavy to really taste the sauce properly.
Had the chocolate dessert after - a little too sweet for me, but I was pleasantly surprised by the cherry filling inside the marshmallow layer. It really helped balance the sweetness of the dark chocolate glaze (not everything dark is bitter haha this one was definitely sweet).
Honestly, I would’ve gone for a classic eggs benedict like I usually do, but wanted to try something different this time. Might stick to the classic next round!
And finally the Latte was solid!
Ah yes one more thing: the added sourdough😍The flavor and texture were spot on, and it was served warm, fresh out of the oven - so fragrant and comforting. And the best part? It was only 20k 🫣 such a nice surprise!
Of course, this is just my personal taste, and I’ll definitely be back, still so many things I want to try. Keep...

WKND, nestled in Thao Dien, boasts a charming atmosphere and impeccable service. The garden setting provides a tranquil escape, perfect for a relaxed brunch or evening out. However, while the hospitality shines, the culinary execution falters in its consistency.
Dishes like the grilled octopus and ribs, which should be showcases of skillful preparation, fell short. The octopus, a textural delight when cooked properly, emerged rubbery and overdone, a betrayal of its potential. Similarly, the ribs lacked the tenderness expected, a hallmark of slow-cooking or braising techniques.
The deconstruction of the salmon rosti proved a curious misstep. While creativity is encouraged, the dish deviated significantly from the classic Swiss potato pancake. Essentially, it became an eggs Benedict with a base of shredded potato instead of the signature toasted bread. This disconnect between expectation and execution was a disappointment.
Thankfully, the desserts offered a reprieve. Here, flavors and textures seemed to find better harmony, providing a satisfying conclusion to the meal.
In conclusion, WKND presents a compelling environment – a haven of style and service. However, the unevenness in the savory dishes detracts from the overall experience. For diners seeking a truly great mouth-watering brunch, the kitchen requires a touch more finesse in its execution to elevate the cuisine to match...
