Terrible Experience - Avoid This Restaurant!
If you're looking for a place where customers are completely disrespected, then this is the restaurant for you. We were seated and politely asked if we could move closer to the water, which was initially arranged. Then the floor manager came over to explain the lobster's daily price, which was 3,600,000 VND per kilo. He showed the price on his calculator and said that further information could be found on the menu, and for certain fish, we would need to ask for the price. So far, so good.
However, we decided not to order lobster and chose other dishes instead from the menucard. That’s when everything changed. When we wanted to order drinks, the same man informed us that since we didn’t order lobster, the price of the drinks had doubled, with a minimum price of 100,000 VND. As if that wasn't ridiculous enough, we were also told that we could no longer sit by the water and had to move further back because we didn’t order lobster. These were 'the rules.'
When I pointed out that it was rude not to inform us of these rules when we were seated, the floor manager showed no understanding whatsoever. He didn’t apologize and simply said that the owner makes the rules and there’s nothing he could do about it. This was odd since he appeared to be the floor manager.
The final straw was when, as we were leaving, another guest approached us and asked what had happened. He mentioned that he had been given a daily price of 2,000,000 VND per kg for the same lobster and that he overheard the floor manager saying something in Vietnamese that didn’t sit well with him. The guest apologized on behalf of the staff and assured us that not all Vietnamese people are like this.
Overall, this restaurant has no respect for its customers. Rude staff, shady pricing practices, and zero customer service. I strongly advise everyone to avoid...
Read moreWe had a vegetable dish of bong bi (not shown in photo), a small lobster and a seafood hotpot, plus a glass of pineapple juice. No problems with how any of the food was prepared. The restaurant also has views on to the lake. Where things went less well was when we received the bill - for the lobster my wife had understood they were quoting the price per kilogram whereas it turned out that the quoted price was per 100g so the price was much higher than we expected. In general the prices here are high ( for example the glass of pineapple juice, which was nice juice, was 100k VND, which is around double what we saw in nice restaurants elsewhere on the island) although for the other three dishes we understood the prices as they were on the menu. For the lobster there were no prices on the menu and as we were sitting outside we only had verbal communication to rely on. This led to a very uncomfortable situation and although we eventually reached some compromise with the manager we still ended up with a much larger bill than we had expected. In other aspects the service was good and the there were no other problems. To summarise, everything here was okay although I would be very very careful when ordering food which is priced by weight and in general expect that the restaurant is generally quite an...
Read moretasteless food, the first time we ordered grilled lobster, they brought fresh and dry lobster, as if the meat had been specially dried, it was impossible to chew. We came for the second time and ordered grilled flounder, fried rice, fries, steak and lobster with white sauce. The fries were made from rotten potatoes, as if they had been out of the refrigerator for a long time, we were afraid to eat them, the fried rice on the entire island is probably the most unpalatable here, how could they spoil it so badly, the lobster with white sauce also could not be eaten because... the sauce stank as if someone had vomited, sweet bread fried in fat for no reason at all, it was also impossible to eat. Of all this, only the flounder fish was tasty. The waiters saw that we didn’t like it and we didn’t touch the food and didn’t even come up and ask anything. The waiters don’t speak or understand English at all, they asked for wet wipes and they didn’t bring them, there were nuts on the table before they brought us the menu and we ordered the dishes, we thought it was a treat, and at the end they wrote a bill for them. Fuokok is full of other restaurants where the simplest dishes are delicious, but here they don’t even know how to cook that, and I’m not talking about...
