We attended her Majesty's Theatre on Wednesday Matinee 'Come from Away'. As my wife was in a wheel chair I was apprehensive about how I would manage. When we arrived I approached a staff member on the door regarding what I could do to with the wheel chair during the show, she advised she would get the Supervisor, who attended and went to great lengths to assist us. She led us into the theatre just before the doors were open, even though we had seats booked she provided two alternatives for us, standing where our seats would be to assist us in our decision. She then assisted with the registering of our tickets whilst we remained in the Theatre returning a few minutes later after completing the task. Read moreI absolutely love the opera experience in Adelaide — the performances at Her Majesty’s Theatre presented by State Opera South Australia are simply magical. Every visit feels intimate, elegant, and effortlessly joyful. The venue itself exudes warmth and grandeur, and the music and acting transport me into another world. It’s always a special time well spent.
If I may make a heartfelt request for a future season, I would be thrilled to see The Circus Princess (also known by its mystical title Mister X) — the charming operetta by Imre Kálmán, with a libretto by Alfred Grünwald and Julius Brammer (very popular among russian speaking population as this masterpiece has been performed in Russian language for half of a century). This stunning operetta is filled with festive spectacle, a romantic and intriguing masked hero, and those unforgettable melodies that sweep you off your feet .
I can’t wait to come back again. Every visit is always a special time...
Read moreThe extensive refurbishment has really enhanced the appeal of this iconic theatre! Hardly an empty seat for a Sunday matinee of Eireborne - rescheduled after cancellation last year due to covid! I was particularly impressed by what appeared to be air circulation vents under each seat .. certainly couldn't detect the usual "stuffiness" one associates with crowded indoor venues. The new red velvet curtain looked impressive! However, it rose a little late and came down a little later than scheduled! Staff were polite and helpful expediting seamless transition on entry to the designated seating. So pleased Her Majesty's Theatre has received a life...
