A surprisingly beautiful park (because it's old) with a giant bandstand for dwelling and pondering, and public toilets with yesteryear charm. Best to find a spot that faces away from Bowen Bridge Road, as the hospital/busway are a truly grotesque eyesore, and the car noise (and fumes, presumably) are inescapable. Also, cyclists will fly through here on their way to the city, so best to look twice unless you want some lycra-clad man's meat and two-veg landing on your face. This park was set aside in the mid-19th century for botanic purposes and, given the questionable transformations to its Bowen Hills surrounds, its best years are likely behind it.
