It is a nice park but Brisbane City Council needs to remove the Copper Art crap sundial disk under the roof of the rotunda as it was placed illegally by the Epilepsy Foundation of Queensland to get the bequeathment of Michael Stirlings millions of dollars from the long term resident of Highgate Hill but now deceased Michael Stirling estate. Michael had put in his will that a copy of the original disk should be placed back on the plinth. Brisbane City Council still has the original mold for the disk in its storage but refuses to replace it. The cost to replace the disk would be a couple of thousand dollars and Michael had directed me to make shure that it was done. Brisbane City Council allowed The Eplilepy Foundation to place the disk but they bought a $30 copper art sundial and placed it there instead of the correct relief disk (similar to the one on Mt Gravatt and Mt Cootha) to get Michael's money as it was part of his WILL that the proper relief direction disk be placed back on the plinth. Since he has passed away many many years have gone by and Brisbane City Council Allowed the placing of this sundial abomination UNDER THE ROOF OF THE ROTUNDA . I contacted council to find out why this useless sundial was placed there but they were not forthcoming about who actually did it . I pointed out many children tend to stand on the plinth to watch Riverfire and if one child slips and gets impaled on the sundial spike who is going to pay for that. The Brisbane City Council removed the spike the very next day, thank goodness. So if your wondering what that disk is on the plinth it is a piece of garbage from Copper Art and not the true and proper disk that had a relief drawing of Brisbane with markings to show people what they can see from the top of Highgate Hill which was educational to children and all visitors. I would like the park given a name like "Daphne Mayo Park" since she put Brisbane and Australia on the the world Art map. Daphne caved the front of Brisbane city hall and many other places including a relief at Anzac Square, she lived for many years in Highgate Hill. So infact she is Historically significant to the area.
Just an update someone who probably works for the council or the epilepsy association has removed the abomination disk from the plinth which is awesome, now will council finally reinstate the direction disk, that they have the mould for in...
