It’s been a while since I went to Alphabet. And I just realized I haven’t written a review. Alphabet became one of my fave cafes in Brisbane not too long after I paid them a visit two years ago. Back then they were only selling coffees and treats out of a window (literally). The girls were really nice, friendly and welcoming. I went back a few times afterwards for their coffee and treats. And when they were fully opened with indoor seatings, I went back multiple times and had a blast there every time I went. I LOVED their cappuccino. It just tasted so nice, with real chocolate flakes on top(of course!). The coffee was rich but not overpowering and the bitterness was balanced out with the heavenly frothed milk. Their long black was also nice, I hate it when I could taste the acidity in long black but the coffee beans they used to make mine didn’t have that strong and intense sourness to them. And their home made cakes and treats were amazing too. I especially loved their flourless citrus cake (from memory, if I’m wrong, let me know please). It was light and the sourness and sweetness were quite balanced. The ambiance was beautiful and cozy. Loved the fact that there was a big chunky wooden table sitting in the middle, right next to the wall of homemade produce display. Read moreFood and drinks here are good just that I did not appreciate how I was handled today by the workers.
I ended up leaving instead of waiting for my drink as I was being treated like an inconvenience rather than a customer. They were clearly busy as they were understaffed. The barista doesn’t know how to come across as kind when stressed.
I was not treated nicely and I also saw her be short with a man who came in after me telling him to ‘just wait’, and saw he was quite visibly taken aback by that.
Not wanting to attack this persons character, her coffees looked amazing and I’m disappointed I didn’t get to have my chai. Just feedback that part of the job is talking to people and making them feel welcomed and valued.
Even though I did as told and sat down to just order a chai the waitress took orders from other people who came after me first.
She did have a nice demeanour at least but yeah I was there waiting before the other people came and she did see me there first, and the barista even told her there’s a table for 1 as she was walking to tend to us but she ignored that and went to the other people instead.
Hoping the manager or person who runs this sees this. If they get sufficient staff for the cafe I might change my review.
I’ve been here before and had generally a good experience and the food is good quality. Even brought friends...
