Burleigh Gelato Co. — Attraction in Gold Coast City

the most amusing ice cream store interaction I've had in a while: Once the little boy handed me my cone (passionfruit sorbet, watermelon sorbet), we both noticed there was a bunch of chocolate on the paper wrapping around the cone from his plastic gloves. He apologized and told me he would fix it for me so I handed it back over the counter. He then took off the paper wrapping and his chocolatey glove while juggling the cone awkwardly. Couldn't slot a new paper wrapper on one-handed so he stuck another cone on top of the ice cream scoops and flipped the whole thing over. Then he tried to remove the first cone, but of course there was ice cream stuffed inside so it wouldn't budge and ended up breaking in half. Giving up, he just handed me the 2 scoops with half the old cone sticking out the top. Everyone in line was also watching indulgently and chuckling when, after I straightened on my side of the counter with my new cone in hand, the top scoop started sliding rapidly off its perch. With visions of splattered ice cream on tile floors flashing before my eyes, I lunged for a paper cup and upended the cone yet again. Of course by that time we were all so flustered that I exited without a spoon and ended up having to use the cone to scoop hahaha

Anyways, this was so yummy (really excellent tartness with the passionfruit, watermelon didn't taste artificial or too sweet) that I seriously contemplated returning for two more scoops later...

Customer service is really bad. We weren’t allowed to taste more than 2 flavours.

I can appreciate being holiday season, holiday location, there would be people just taste and not buy or just buy a single scoop after tasting everything.

However, the tasting amount is so tiny and after she told us that we can only taste 2 flavours. We told her we will get a tub (1 litre), could we taste more? She stared at us and firmly said NO like we didn’t understand her the first time. It’s just a bit rude.

We still got the litre and bought flavours we didn’t try but we did leave with a bad taste in the mouth - the customer service.

I came into the Burleigh Gelato Co today for the first time and got my Dad,Brother and I two scoops of gelato each. I got the Mars Bar gelato and the Ferrero Rocher gelato and they both were nice enough with a good flavour and a decent amount of chunks of Mars Bars and Ferrero Rocher pieces. The prices here are decent enough I think it was $7.95 each for 2 scoops in a cup which isn't terrible considering its Burleigh Heads and in quite a busy location. I do think In The Pink at Byron Bay is pretty similar to this store in terms of flavours but there's is slightly better. I would still give this store...
