My son attended a birthday party on the weekend and he had a great time, however a lot of parents did not. Prepare to essentially do everything for your child if they want to actually climb while they attend the party.
Being asked to arrive early for check in and safety / harness with no one available to help so LOTS of children and parents standing around in small area until well after the party time.
No where practical for families with prams, parents having to clip their own child on for every climb while having to hold their young babies on their hips or leave them far away in a pram for the hour running between. ( would be beneficial to tell party families that they are required to fully assist their children the entire party so maybe try and arrange alternate care for babies.)
2 x Young staff that looked like and gave attitude clearly showing they didn’t really want to be there. Huffing about , being bothered when people asked them questions and having to leave others standing waiting for long periods of time.
A lot of children were disappointed and crying as parents tried to pay for the extras ( sky fall and leap of faith ) to be told no we don’t have time to do that after they watched a couple of their friends have a turn. ( a few … even one more extra staff would have been very beneficial and made you more money from the 5-10 children who missed out because there weren’t enough staff to help because of having “too little time.”
Older siblings who were climbing while younger siblings attended the party were much more helpful and easily retrieved lost pulleys from next to them when staff didn’t which limited the amount of climbs for other children as many were unusable.
It’s really such a shame because with more staff and less attitude this would have been great for families not just the kids. Was a lot of work as a parent attending this...
Read moreRead the recent posts after my husband and I were reflecting on our experience last weekend. It was hectic and I was very concerned for kids and the staff. I only saw 3 staff to 60 people with birthday parties also underway and whilst i'm sure they were doing the many tasks required it did seem insufficient to ensure safety. We were 1:1 with our 2 kids however it was very difficult to move around, there were a number of prams in the climbing area, and many young children were unattended and did not seem experienced. The climbing walls seem packed too close together, whilst waiting for my child just behind their red mat I had a man come down on top of me about 2 metres out from his mat and gave me a huge bruise down my calf. Always supportive of small business however I implore them to reconsider their max numbers and ratios, to ensure the safety of everyone (i couldn't find info online about ratios). Parents should definitely be in the climbing area checking their child's harness for each climb (venue require that but don't seem to have capacity to enforce), and do not leave your child at a birthday party at a climbing venue even if they have climbed many times, accidents happen, especially in a busy and fun environment. The venue has the best range of walls I've seen and kids did get around to many of them even when it was so busy and agree with venue a quieter day would be so...

There are around 60 children running around unsupervised as their parents are not allowed inside and have to wait outside of the climbing area. There are 2 employees that literally give a 2-minute briefing on safety and then stand in a corner, and even if they wanted to, have no chance to check the safety of mostly kids between 5–11 years old. It was scary to watch, would absolutely not recommend to anyone as you either have to let fewer children in accompanied with a responsible adult or they have hire enough staff to ensure the safety is maintained.
Many times, while someone was abseiling, another person would walk in or run underneath the climbing wall. I was at one moment abseiling. I made sure no one was standing around and screamed "going down" as there were so many people passing and not paying attention. When I jumped down to abseil, a LADY WITH A PRAM came out of nowhere, stopping where I wanted to land... As I was unable to stop, I just screaming towards her that I am coming down. Luckily she saw me at the last second and moved......
