I came here with the family for dinner recently and had quite a reasonable time of it. The menu is simple, not expensive and the serves are quite ample. The entree size items are a meal in themselves. Almost "American size" servings, so you won't go hungry if you visit. The only thing I didn't like was that they serve you on slabs of dead tree. Surely plates are easier to clean and to stop food falling off, than flat boards. I've never liked this particular trend in the food service space, but if it's your thing, enjoy!
They had live music and the three generations of us sitting around the table listening enjoyed it very much. Great ambience.
Their ciders are excellent, particularly the cherry. Lightly fizzy with a hint of sweetness. Yum!
Inside, it's a shed just like the name says. The tables are very rustic as they are made from pallets, though they could be cleaner. I hate that slight stickiness from wiped but not washed food residue on a table. If Macca's can give you clean tables, so should they be able to. Chairs are alternated with stools, and neither is particularly comfortable to sit on for any length of time.
Booking is a little bit hit and miss, as they don't answer their phone with any alacrity, nor do they do online bookings, which would be great since they're not that keen to answer the phone! We eventually booked for 5.30pm and got there on time just for a change, only to find that they wouldn't be taking orders untill 6.00pm. A little at odds with the information on their website. It wouldn't have hurt if they had mentioned that when we were booking.
All in all a nice experience and I'll be back(I just like to...
