Collingwood Town Hall — Attraction in Melbourne

Held inside the elegant Collingwood Town Hall, the Candlelight Tribute to Metallica was an unexpectedly moving experience. The hall itself, with its high ceilings and restored character, felt perfectly suited to a night of strings and atmosphere. Rows of soft candlelight surrounded the musicians, giving the room a warm glow that felt calm and intimate rather than staged.

The arrangements brought out layers in the songs that aren’t always obvious when listening to the original recordings. Nothing Else Matters felt tender, Fade to Black carried a quiet depth, and Enter Sandman had a playful energy that lifted the room. The musicians performed with precision, but also feeling — it was clear this wasn’t just a tribute, but a thoughtful reinterpretation.

What made the night special was not only the music, but the sense of stillness it created. People listened — really listened. There was a softness in the room, a shared quiet, like we were all stepping slightly outside of time for a while.

A genuinely memorable experience. Atmospheric, beautifully arranged, and thoughtfully presented.

A simple, glowing night...

I attending candlight concert, ballet everything was fine we were enjoying concert until my daughter wanted to use the rest room. The door we entered was locked I could not exit I was locked in there were no signs informing me or directing me to an another exit for the rest room. 10 min later I saw a lady trying to exit to use the rest room she also could not as the door was locked, it was dark with no lights. It was embarrassing as I was standing there like a fool, very frustrating to have young child wanting to use the restroom crying in tears and you can’t exit with ease it was ridiculous an absolute death trap if there were a fire. When concert was over there were no staff directing us out. I definitely will not be returning no matter what the theatre...

A friend and I recently attended the Candlelight Concert at the Collingwood Town Hall. The Invictus String Quartet performed the music of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake as well as other ballet classics. The concert also featured two ballerinas that just added to the delightful ambiance in the flickering candlelight.
