Upon arriving to Adina, I realised I left my license at home. Reception made it very difficult for me to check in, even though I had a photograph to support who I was. And was able support my booking on the app.
Afterwards, my wife was even unable to pay, because I had to then enter the booking.com app and write a message to the hotel saying that she was staying with me. There was a total loss of common sense during this whole process, something that could’ve been dealt with simply, was escalated to a very excruciating experience.
The hotel refused to take cash as a payment, which I had already withdrew from my account. This was stated nowhere on the website at all. This left me short on money to pay for our room, and no exceptions were made on this. We were then told we would be charged a $200 holding fee, and it would take approximately 10 to 14 days for this money to return back to my account. So this exhausted our entire budget for the trip, and our three day holiday would be hindered by waiting 14 days for the $200 to return to me. Seems like a very barbaric practice, as most hotels just hold a small amount to ensure the card is active and working properly.
Upon entering the room, it was clear this is not a 4 1/2 star motel. The carpets were dirty, the phone didn’t work, and I couldn’t call reception. The TV speakers were blown, and anything we tried to watch sounded horrible. There was no in-house movies or entertainment, because apparently the system was down. Simple thoughts like some milk in the fridge to add to coffee or tea were forgotten. The heater also didn’t work, and the filter for the air conditioner was putrid.
We ordered a cot for our youngest child which wasn’t set up for us upon arrival. We travelled 400 km to enjoy a weekend experience away, and our youngest was dying for a sleep after not sleeping in the car the whole way. We then had to wait until 6:30 pm until a replacement cot was brought to us, which was absolutely filthy. It had what looked like faces covered on the sides and on the bottom, and because it was damaged, it was impractical to use so he ended up having to sleep with us.
After bathing the kids, my wife retrieved a towel from the rail, which fell from the wall and almost struck my child in the head. Very dangerous to say the least, the room clearly is a safety hazard for children.
Day two arrived and we quickly found out there are no tea towels provided and no dish soap to wash dishes. Room service “cleaned” the room, Which consisted of simply making the beds. None of the rubbish bins were emptied, tables weren’t wiped down, dishes we had used were not placed in the dishwasher or cleaned for us at all. The entire room was left as it was apart from the beds being made. So I would definitely not call these serviced apartments.
Finally, upon checking out, my family and I walk into the lobby after being outside in the pouring rain. My children and I were in dire need of a toilet, and were refused by the hotel staff. The woman simply pointed out the door, suggesting I walk back through the rain to Federation Square to use the public toilets there. Clearly there was no regard for myself or my kids during this time, and I was absolutely disgusted that there was no common decency or care for us at that moment at all.
All in all, this was the most horrible of any hotel experience I’ve had in my entire life. Our relaxing getaway was nothing more than a weekend filled with stress followed by irritation that staff simply didn’t care. I made it quite clear that I was going to leave a review on my stay and there was nothing more than a shrug of the shoulders as a reply. I can confidently say I will never ever stay at the Adina hotel apartments or any Adina hotel ever again, and I would strongly suggest anyone reading the review to take the...
Read moreWe were celebrating a friend's hens and had booked a room for 3 girls to spend the night. But had arranged for the group to be able to go into the room to refresh and leave in time for our dinner booking. To avoid any issues, the person who made the booking went above and beyond, securing both written and verbal confirmation from Adina staff that this arrangement was perfectly acceptable. We did everything by the book.
Imagine our shock and dismay, then, when we arrived and were met with utter hostility and dismissiveness from the hotel manager, Terry Xyros. The person who made the reservation calmly explained the situation, presenting the email confirmation on her phone and reiterating the multiple prior conversations with Adina staff confirming our plan.
Mr. Xyros refused to engage in any reasonable discussion. He immediately and categorically stated that our pre-approved arrangement was impossible. Despite the clear evidence of prior authorisation from Adina staff, he was completely inflexible. Worse, he repeatedly avoided eye contact, actively ignored our attempts to speak, and even resorted to locking his computer and retreating to a back room to avoid us entirely.
This level of service from Adina was beyond unacceptable. Mr. Xyros's behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply insulting. He refused to acknowledge the fact that we had taken every possible step to confirm our plans with Adina beforehand. We were left feeling humiliated and frustrated, with no recourse despite having followed all the correct procedures. His complete disregard for our pre-approved arrangements, and his subsequent refusal to even discuss the matter, ruined what should have been a joyous occasion. The insult was compounded when, as we stood in reception reeling from Mr. Xyros's dismissive treatment, we witnessed a group of over fifteen women, clearly celebrating a hen's party, exit the elevator. We approached them and asked if they were all staying overnight. They confirmed that, like our group, only a handful (five, in their case) were actually booked into the room. This was a slap in the face. Seeing this blatant double standard was infuriating. It became painfully clear that different rules applied to different guests. We were left with no other conclusion than that this discriminatory treatment was based on the colour of our skin. So Adina, I'd appreciate if you're able to please address this. We've attempted to resolve this in multiple avenues and have unfortunately been...
Read moreI stayed here 3 days 2 nights just this past weekend. Adina Apartment Hotel on Flinders Street in Melbourne is absolutely beautiful. From the outside, you would have no idea how stunning it is inside.
I came here for respite care with my mum and we were very impressed with how spacious and clean our apartment was. I was able to spend some much needed time with my mum and get out and about in the community. We were very close to everything! Everything is within walking distance! There is even a convenient IGA right next door.
The apartment came with everything you need. Tea and coffee amenities, toaster, kettle, oven, dishwasher, dish cleaning items, glassware, mugs, plates, bowls and even pots and pans. In the bathrooms there were towels, hand towels, sanitary bags, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, etc.
Here are some negatives potential guests may want to take into consideration before booking at this Adina location: I really struggled sleeping. This was at no fault of the hotel. There was some sort or bar/club behind our apartment that would frequently empty what sounded like 1000s of glass bottles into a deep drop bin. This would continue until around 3am. during our stay, only 1 elevator was working. There were often long waits to get in or out of the hotel because of this. the floor outside becomes extremely slippery when wet. I was exiting the hotel during my stay and noticed a man in the lobby with bandages wrapped around his head and being tended to by multiple staff. I was unsure of what happened but pieced it together when I too nearly slid right out the front. I do not know who's responsible for the pavement/flooring outside, but it is very dangerous. Ambulance, police and firemen attended that day. Sand had to be put down on the whole block to create traction.
The negatives aside, this was the best apartment/hotel I have ever stayed in. The amount of space you have is incredible. I have sent photos and videos to family and friends and they are all going to be booking with Adina if they stay in...
