Dream Micro Wedding with Personal Touches and Exceptional Service!
We recently held our micro wedding for 30 guests at this stunning venue, and it was everything I dreamed of! Living five hours away, I had never even seen the venue in person, but thanks to Catherine, the superb event coordinator, everything was flawlessly organised remotely.
As a chef, the menu initially drew me in, but as a bride, I also wanted that special wedding feel with all the personal touches. Catherine worked closely with me to bring my vision to life. We customised the decor, menus, and signage to match my invites and wedding styling, and I posted floor plans, name tags, wedding favors, and other bits-n-pieces to Catherine for safekeeping. She and her team handled the entire setup, allowing me to simply arrive after the ceremony and enjoy myself. The room was exactly as I had imagined—beautiful, intimate, and perfectly styled.
The food was absolutely top-notch, featuring generous portions and high-quality ingredients. What truly impressed me—and my guests—was the personalised dining experience, with everyone able to choose their selections from three entrées, three mains, and two desserts, rather than the usual 50/50 split. The Striploin and Crème Brûlée were clear favorites, and despite everyone claiming they were too full, they couldn’t resist indulging in the fourth course of cheese and espresso coffee, which was the perfect way to round out the night. Our guests with celiac disease were especially pleased to have the same menu options, with the kitchen making necessary adjustments to ensure their safety.
The drinks table service was another highlight, allowing us to sit, talk, and enjoy each other’s company without the need to get up and go to the bar. It added to the relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere of the evening.
As a bride in a huge dress, having our own private facilities was a wonderful touch!
If you're looking for a venue that combines exceptional food with personalised service and stunning decor, this is the place. Huge thanks to Catherine, the front of house team and the kitchen for making our wedding day...
Read moreI gave the restaurant the opportunity to address my complaint and contact me before posting this, as I believe that is the fair thing, however I have not heard anything from management - this has confirmed my opinion this establishment is not interested in customer service or quality product. There are many other places to dine at Southbank so my advice go somewhere else. Some responses from other posts from management, advise poor service and quality is not the norm, however it is still happening - most reviews indicate something wasn't good. When paying over $150 for two with a main meal and drink at lunchtime - there should be no issues!. I had the braised lamb shank and it was the smallest lamb shank I have every seen - probably four teaspoons worth of meat if that and the meat wasn't so tender it was easy to take off the bone. Both meals were small and my partner did not finish the greenery as part of the barramundi as it wasn't that nice. Hand cut chips (side) were so thick that some parts were still raw and no crispness at all. Had no cutlery, so had to ask for that. Drinks came out and had spillage on the glass. No attention to the customer. I witnessed the male staff member yell out (across a distance of about 10 m) to people to just wait there and someone would seat them. How unprofessional - they looked like visitors to Australia. This staff member had an English accent himself. He looked hungover and was drinking water from a bottle as he walked between inside and outside - again unprofessional. I realise it was NY day however there should be a consistent high standard, not hit and miss. I didn't raise the issues at the time as I believed the male staff member was head person there and I simply didn't want to have a conversation with this unpleasant person and make the...
Read moreSTOP! READ MY REVIEW AND EMAIL I HAD TO SEND THEM BEFORE ORDERING. DISGUSTING BAR THAT WILL RIP YOU OFF WITH NO SYMPATHY.
My friend and I booked at your bar for our first time ever after trying and loving all the bars on Southbank
When ordering we POINTED to the wine we wanted and made sure to SPECIFICALLY MENTION we wanted the cheapest bottle of Pinot Gris available. Your waiter nodded and said he could get it for us. Please note, we specifically pointed your SIXTY DOLLAR bottle.
After one bottle, we said that we would have another. The waitress asked us to taste and, again, we said it was the cheapest bottle so we aren’t sure why to taste, she insisted without explanation.
At checkout is when we discovered that our “cheapest” bottles was, actually, the most expensive, at $135 (more than double) and there was nothing they can do.
Considering my friend and I meet up every 5 months, we save up for this each time. We had MULTIPLE times laughed with your staff about the fact we choose the cheapest bottle, we are beyond disgusted and upset. This was not OUR MISTAKE. It was your staffs and I am unsure why we should be punished for this.
At no point was it indicated that they may like to double check that it was correct. Your staff knew we couldn’t pronounce the wine as we said it when we pointed it out. They informed us that by “accepting a second bottle” we should have known. Please tell me how when we thought we were paying for the same $60 bottle what should indicate a difference?
I am upset, I am the one who started crying in your bar as a result of this. Please tell me how we can fix this. My friend and I both work in hospo and we both know you check before this.
I’m beyond upset and await...
