My favourite beach area in Newcastle. Where else can you sit at a beach, watching the dolphins, whales, surfers, swimmers, kids learning to surf, and see a ship coming in the harbour.. behind the sand? Seats for dining, under the sun, or under cover and multiple levels of seating on cement. Swells kiosk for tasty food, drinks & and ice creams. Toilets and free parking. Wide, shared paths for walking and cycling, which lead you to either the breakwall, the harbour foreshore, or Newcastle Beach, on level ground. This beach, along with many others in Newcastle, has lifeguards on duty. Big open space to enjoy, and I never get tired of photographing this area.

A sandy and vast beach with with breathtaking view. Beach is really big to have your own space for sunbathing or playing. Surfing is feasible. Sunscreen is highly recommended. The current is not that much strong when I visited and water is cold to touch. The thing I liked most is seeing the waves coming from two different sides and clashing closer to the shore. This can be seen closer to Nobbys head side. Parking is available close to the beach. Showers, toilets and drinking water fountains for humans and dogs available. A Must visit place in Newcastle. If you’re coming by bus, it’s less than 1km away from the bus stop.

Great place to swim, although the water is often cool (I'm used the warm ocean temperatures in Queensland). When there are easterlies, lots of grass can be present, which makes swimming awkward. However, it was so a great place to bring the family, as it is usually a safe beach for swimming. Also, when the weather is rough, one can stop I'm in the ocean pool just south of Nobby's Beach. Overall, a great place to spend the day with family.

Regardless of the weather, this place can be paradise to the optimistic mind. Through a cold winter wind that was more persistent than a teen boy on a first date, I battled through and explored by foot the distance out to the break wall point and down and around the whole park. I was passed by many like me, fitness fanatics, couples and families of all ages who saw the beauty in such a view despite the dreary outlook of the day.

As someone who has limited time in Newcastle and has no idea what the city has to offer, I was absolutely delighted to spend an afternoon in the vicinity of the park, beach and bay. There are many excellent points to sit and watch the freight liners get tugged off and all the facilities you would need to satisfy a decent day out with family and friends.

Definitely a big plus in bringing me back to the area in the...

Beach that is iconic to Newcastle. It has the famous Nobby's lighthouse that is synonymous with the picturesque landscape of the Steel City's identity. It is where the Pashur Bulkur beached itself on the 8th June 2007 in the storms that swept across NSW causing great devastation and loss of life. Nobby's Beach has a flagged area safe swimming and is manned by lifeguards during delegated hours . It is a place where many Novacastrians have created many memories with family and friends. Whether you swim, surf, bodyguard or wade it caters for all. Has a kiosk and toilets and also freshwater outdoor showers to freshen up before catching transport or carrying sand into your car. Ample of parking and easy to catch public transport to. Great...

Nice little Beach. Good Kiosk with very good coffee, bit pricey. Nobby's ranges from flat as a tack to rough for swimmers. It has a great rock pool if you go when the tide is fairly low. Generally a good beach for kids. Further up the beach board riders seem to find good waves. Usually patrolled during the usual times. Good toilet facilities, but, no soap and only one hand basin outside the door to wash hands. Previously had large public showers but these were removed to cater to the failed Grand Prix crowds. Nice walks along the break water or in the other direction to Newcastle Beach. Surf Life Savers have a large club here and nippers meet...
