4 star hotel - yes, a 5 star hotel? Not quite!

Room type: Deluxe King Size Stay: 1 night

When I think of being in a 5 star hotel, I am thinking the top dog, the best of the best, unbelievable experience from start to finish leaving you wanting more and wishing you booked longer.

But with this one, not quite there!

Definitely enjoyable, relaxing and felt safe particularly during these Covid times. The room was clean and had everything you needed in terms of amenities. The bed was big and comfortable, we had complimentary waters, tea and coffee, a shoe shine service, robes, slippers and all the necessities like body gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer etc.

We were grateful to have a little free upgrade in terms of the view. We had a nice few of the water over looking Lunar Park and a little bit of the bridge.

The valet service was great due to the enthusiasm of the guy who was managing it, he was warm and friendly and took care of things very quickly including arranging for the luggage to be taken to the room. The reception lady was very professional and gave all the necessary information needed for the stay including giving us the free upgrade.

The room service was great, I liked that we could order through the tablet without having to speak to anyone but also having the online chat option if we did need to ask any questions (which they very promptly responded). The delivery and presentation of the food we ordered through in-room dining was prompt and looked nice. Hot food was stored underneath away from the chilled food.

The food was overpriced and pretty standard (I wouldn't say 5 star, although the prices were!) - we had the risotto, gnocchi and dirty fries along with deserts - chocolate tart and cheese cake. The mains were okay, little bland (glad we had the salt and pepper on hand!). The chocolate tart was memorable, very rich and decadent.

The pool area was... meh. If I was blind folded and taken there not knowing where I was, I would think a Meriton at best, not the Four Seasons. The view is just buildings where everyone can look out and see what you are up to, it was pretty small with a limited number of beds. I wouldn't say it looked the cleanest but it was okay. I liked the little wooden shacks, the beds were spacious and comfortable. There were heaps of complimentary towels on hand. The service from 2 of the barmen was okay, one being really friendly and chatty, the other looked sad and like he was hating his job. The food around by the pool was lovely, again very overpriced but tasted good. Particularly the calamari!

Would I stay here again? If we found a good deal, sure.
