Hickson Road Reserve is one of Sydney’s most stunning and underrated public spaces. Tucked beneath the southern approach to the Harbour Bridge, it offers a postcard-perfect perspective of the Opera House across the harbour, framed by the sweep of Circular Quay and the ever-changing movement of ferries and water taxis. What sets this place apart is how effortlessly it connects monumental infrastructure with quiet human scale. From an architectural and urban design perspective, it's an exceptional example of spatial layering—where industrial heritage, iconic landmarks, and natural elements all coexist. The views are cinematic, yet the space feels deeply personal. It's no surprise this spot is popular for weddings and photography—there’s something timeless and dignified about it. The reserve itself is simple and beautifully maintained: generous lawns, mature palms, and just enough seating to linger without overcrowding. Whether you’re watching the light shift over the water, enjoying a peaceful walk, or catching the sparkle of the city skyline at dusk, Hickson Road Reserve delivers one of the most immersive views in Sydney. A quiet gem at the edge of the harbour—worth seeking out whether you're a visitor or a local in need of a pause.

Let's get one thing straight: 'Circular Quay is the Heart of the City' at night. Some amazing cafes, night clubs and restaurants are situated on the streets around this area and the walk is no less romantic and beautiful that one experience in Europe. And the View of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House is one encapsulate Also this is the place you catch ferry to Manly Beach

Great view of the harbour - especially the Sydney Harbour Bridge.. It's right next to Park Hyatt Hotel and the southern pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There's a few car spots in front of the park - but you would have to be really lucky to score those at any time. If you're sightseeing around Sydney, you can reach this park by walking from Circular Quay and following the coast line past the Rocks and the Park Hyatt.

The location is popular with photographers (Tip: bring a zoom lens to get a close up of the Opera House Sails) and it can be booked out for outdoor weddings.

The nearest public toilet is unfortunately in...

Always a divine place to experience (in real life) the joys we market to the world about being here. It’s FREE. The views & breezes are sublime. You can “jog past if you’re a health head” (unlike me 😂) or you can simply take o/s friends for a walk to ensure they understand why you love it (they will - in a heartbeat!).

By yourself & bored with the everyday? Then also come here. It’s the BEST place to sit down & drink your coffee & eat your breakfast (no matter what it is) on your “weekend” (especially for those of us who now get weekends on weekdays). It’s FREE & it’s SUPERB. DO IT...
