I avoid their expired products and usually have no issue with the staff and service (though I make a point to avoid this old, frumpy asian woman who services the counter. She is VERY slow, rude, tries to over charge you and throws your purchased items into your bag. She is very rude and snippy if you correct her of the cost of your purchased items), except for today.
I wanted to get cash out and there was a long line due to slow service and slow customers, as per usual. A second cashier started servicing and left the first line to his. After asking for a $20.00, I tried swiping my card twice but it didn't work. The guy didn't want to deal with the problem and tried to lie to me: he told me to line up in the first long line as the other card machine there is the only one that works on MY card. I told him the first line is long and that I never had a problem with this card or this machine before, as I took money out from this machine and the first service counter one with my card in the past. He insisted that I never used a card before, tried gaslighting me that the first line isn't long (even though we both can see it was) and insisted I never used this machine. He immediately brushed me to the side and served someone else, ignoring me.
I went to line up in the first line. My card STILL didn't work for some reason, so I asked the man over the counter to use my other card. He told me he'll serve the other customers first as he didn't want to hold the line up. Funny how in the past, this never happened to other customers that were purposely slow. He served a few customers who had A LOT of items. Finally served me and the guy kept insisting I was swiping and inserting the card wrong. I had enough and just swiped it myself. It worked.
I'll be shopping at West Ryde and Rhodes from now on. Their items are cheaper and you don't have to worry about...

They have a wide range of products all packed into a small space (I would like more variety though. There's a lot of K-food, which I do love, but would love to see more products from different cultures).
Also many products are often not re-stocked on time. By 4/5Pm a lot of the items (basics such as eggs, bread etc are sold out!). And often times, the aisles are blocked with stocks/boxes lying around without anyone stocking them. Its just there blocking the already narrow aisles.
The staff are kind. However, we really need to have self-serve counters in this day and age. I also feel some products are cheaper in other super markets, so probably better deals would attract more customers and the business (i feel its a bit more expensive as compared to other supermarkets).
I always forget to check with them about my adding the purchase to my profile to get member credits (and I don't see anyone doing it either as well). There's always just 2 cash counters open at most times or just one and there's always a long wait, so I think most of us forget or just don't bother. Self-serve counters would probably resolve this I guess.

ย ย ย Read moreI had a great customer experience there today! Some time ago I received an IGA gift card, but when I wanted to use it there the card wasnโt recognised when swiping. I was asked to come back another day because the gift card service desk to call was closed already. So I came back today and asked for the store manager, Sandeep. He was amazing, showed how he cared about me as a Customer and tried his best calling the card service desk and transferring the fund to another card. Unfortunately, even the new card didnโt work and they are awaiting a new batch of cards soon, so he took my phone number and promised to call or send a text when they arrive. Even though it didnโt work out today I rate this experience with 5 stars because Sandeep did all he could to help me and showed that he cared and was very apologetic about the inconvenience.
