This cafe has opened recently. Nice location near Meadowbank Wharf, food quite tasty, friendly staff but still ironing out some service issues. Have been twice. First time went during the week and had the Moroccan prawn pasta which was very nice. Seated quickly and served efficiently. Second time went on a weekend and had to wait quite a while for a table. That was ok. But unfortunately meals for the 6 of us came out a couple at a time over a period of an hour. One never actually arrived. Got it takeaway and were also given a delicious free chocolate doughnut. Staff seem lovely. Kitchen I think has a few teething problems. It’s a new place and was busy. I’ll go again but when it’s quieter. Also depending on the weather and where you sit, it can get quite hot on a sunny day. There are umbrellas, but as the sun moves you can end up getting quite a lot of soon. On the first occasion we ended up moving tables when another one was free. Second time we brought a golf umbrella for one side of the table.

I think they started business without prepare a strategy or they couldn’t think about daily visitor number because they don’t have cold drinks and many of soft drinks are on their menu but not in their kitchen. It’s okay if you don’t have it. But their ice out of stock as well :) couldn’t find ice for the soft drink. I drank hot drink in the 35 degree. Another thing I ordered Rosa chicken with Avo but came without avo. These things not a big issue but I don’t think I’ll go again because I have only 1-2 free time for dinner or lunch in the week. When I go just I want to enjoy my time whatever they have in their menu. I can have maybe only coffee that’s it. Ps. When we go there no staff for showing table or giving us a menu. We standing 5 min for someone and I asked to barista what should I do because there is a sign “wait the staff for table”. And I tried to find menu by myself and table. I have zero word to staff because they are trying their best and they are so young. Management is not so well. I’m updating my review 3 stars to 1 star for their great steak sandwich

POSITION OPEN!! - XS Espresso: No experience, No Training, No Worries—Just wing It! A few bad experiences, unfortunately. I’ve ordered coffee only to be asked my name when I was the only customer there. Like, who else might the order be for? They have ample dog bowls, but they are always dirty or empty. Today, I ordered toast with butter and vegemite to take away, only to have to stop at a bench down the road to lather my cold toast with my condiments. To top it off, there were 4 people behind the counter and only me and 2 other customers there. I had to ask where my toast was after 10 minutes. The coffee was too hot to drink. If I have to lather my own toast, surely they should let customers behind the counter to make their own coffee? And lastly, I’ve ordered food off the app to pick-up and they hadn’t even started my order when I arrived. Who interviewed these staff?

Lovely new cafe in Meadowbank! I have been there twice for Brunch. The first time attending was their second week of operation. The operator at the till took a very long time to take people's orders, still probably trying to learn how to find things on the POS computer, I ordered extra hash browns which did not come with the meal ordered so I raised this to the waiter who apologised and brought them out to me within 5 minutes, food was very bland, the table next to us were complaining of dirty cups and cutlery to the waiter. My second visit the week later was much more acceptable, the customer service was much better, the food was much tastier (I ordered the same dish as my first visit) and they were giving out plastic cups to people as they had run out of glasses. I'm sure they will improve as the business grows - great addition to the area!

Cafe is in a lovely location, and the XS sign looks great! Venue is well equipped to handle the kids of Meadowbank. We went for dinner on a Sunday night and ordered a 3 cheese Gnocchi and a steak Sammy. Unfortunately the steak sandwich sourdough required a chainsaw to cut through (in the menu picture it was multigrain), which we didn't have handy and flavours didn't really pop. For the Gnocchi, while the saltiness was on point the Gnocchi didn't seem fresh, like it was packaged. Not sure if the owner can comment or correct me on my assumption but I don't think it's worth the $22 price tag. If the other XS cafes are like this one I don't think we need to go out of our way to visit them as other competition offer better value propositions. That being said this business is new, hopefully gets better over time, best of luck 🤞
