It's one of the best places to indulge in an icy scoop of gelato on a hot sunny day โ˜€๏ธ. This Italian gelataria makes its gelato fresh daily using natural raw ingredients without adding any flavouring or colouring agents ๐ŸŒˆ. Almost, half of their gelato menu is vegan including their pistachio gelato (yes pistachio!) ๐Ÿƒ โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” (Check my profile bio for a description of the ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’ต emojis) ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ - Surprisingly, even a single scoop of it was quite filling ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Make it 2 scoops and a cone ๐Ÿฆ and it just might be a meal. ๐Ÿคฉ - This might just be the silkiest and smoothest gelato you'll ever try (maybe even smoother than that smooth af friend of yours ๐Ÿ˜‰). Honestly, considering this is a water-based gelato, the creaminess it offers is insane. The seasonal fruit flavours actually taste like fresh fruit ๐Ÿ‰. Their signature flavours include the Fior di Latte ๐Ÿฅ›, Gianduja (Nutella, but better), Stracciatella , Pepe Saya Sea Salt Caramel ๐Ÿฎ(their best seller) and my personal favourite, the Organic Pure Cocoa Mass ๐Ÿซ(featured in this post). ๐Ÿ’ต - $5.5 for 1 scoop, $7 for 2 scoops โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ***PRO TIP: You can try 2 different flavours in a single scoop for $6๐Ÿ˜‹. There's really no excuse not to ๐Ÿคท.

ํ”ผ์Šคํƒ€์น˜์˜ค ์กด๋ง› Mapo Newtown is a charming gelato shop nestled in the vibrant Newtown neighborhood of Sydney. This little gem serves up some of the most exquisite gelato, with flavors that transport you straight to Italy. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a sweet treat after a day of exploring the local area. What sets Mapo Newtown apart is its commitment to quality and authenticity. Each batch of gelato is made with the finest ingredients, resulting in rich and creamy textures that melt in your mouth. From classic flavors like pistachio and stracciatella to unique offerings like matcha and black sesame, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The shop's friendly staff are always ready to offer recommendations and let you sample different flavors before making your choice. Mapo is a small artisanal and sustainable gelato shop at the Northern end of Newtown towards Sydney University. The fit out is minimalist, with a long bench, plywood clad walls covered in a list of the daily offerings. Gelato flavours made using natural, raw and organic ingredients without artificial additives. The colours and flavours come from the ingredients used in the gelato. The gelatos are super creamy and really tasty. The quintessential Italian flavour is fior di latte, their creamy milk which they always have, as well as plenty of fruit based (60% fruit) like watermelon, honey dew melon, and plum and their rotating specials. Other flavours include roasted macadamia, caramello, giandujia, matcha, stracciatella and pistachio. They do have some vegan options. One of my favourites is the Pepe Saya Butter with sea salt caramel and a natural raw honey and sea salt caramel sauce add on. Be sure to check it out sometime.

Mapo Ice Cream in Sydney offers a unique take on the classic watermelon flavor, infusing it with their signature creativity and high-quality ingredients. Their Watermelon Ice Cream is a refreshing, fruity delight that captures the essence of summer in every scoop. The flavor combines the sweet, juicy taste of watermelon with a creamy, smooth ice cream base, creating a perfect balance of sweetness and refreshing coolness. The result is a dessert that feels light yet indulgent, making it an ideal treat for warm weather or whenever youโ€™re craving something fruity.

What sets Mapoโ€™s watermelon ice cream apart is the attention to detail in its texture and taste. Itโ€™s not just a simple fruit-flavored ice cream; thereโ€™s a subtle tanginess that enhances the natural watermelon flavor, giving it a vibrant and lively taste. Some versions even incorporate real watermelon pieces or puree, adding bursts of freshness that elevate the experience.

Whether youโ€™re a fan of traditional flavors or adventurous enough to try something different, the watermelon ice cream at Mapo is a must-try. Itโ€™s an excellent choice for anyone looking for a cool, light dessert thatโ€™s both satisfying and refreshing, offering a perfect balance of sweet and fruity notes...

This is real artisan gelato. They have dethroned the Roman franchise Rivareno and Cow and The Moon as the best gelato in Sydney. How can you tell?

Well

They use pozzetti for a start. The metal cannisters designed specifically for the storage of gelato (the only other place in Sydney that does it is Rivareno).

The gelato is not stacked to the moon like in other ice cream shops that pretend to sell gelato but really sell ice cream (the scientific reason is gelato doesn't use as much cream as ice cream so there's less fat and less air that gets in when churning partly because of less fat and partly because the churn is slower).

They make it fresh and use real ingredients, you can tell the ingredients are real because of the colours, hazelnut is the colour of a hazelnut etc. They also only make what is in season. You won't be finding lemon gelato at the moment (even if you really want it) because lemons aren't in season yet.

It tastes exactly like the gelato you can find in all the small towns across Italy. Not the tourist shops in Rome but real artisan...
