Great little Kiosk and presumably expensive exclusive Restaurant

Walked from Ellery's Punt Reserve under the Spit Bridge from 1 Manly Road which is the only Residence in Manly Road but is marked as Battle Boulevard on Google Maps being the old road to Ellery's Punt which on the Eastern Side of Manly Road is still there on a blind unsignposted left hand turn between Beige Wooden Railings that Manly Council's Mowing Contractor must have used as access for years as I presume Northern Beaches Council now does - when I risked the hard left turn from the Bus Lane to have a look the road has become a Defacto Car Park where I don't think a Ranger would come to book you

The Walk via Fisher Bay, Brady's Point and Sandy Bay was well Signposted by Manly Council - Desperate to use the Men's Room when I got to Clontarf where even the Men's Loos have a Baby Change Table

Clontarf is where in 1868 Henry O'Farrell shot Bertie the Prince of Wales in the Braces Stap and Even Crown Prince Albert couldn't stop the NSW Government making n Example of the Fenian O'Farrell

Royal Prince Henry Isolation Hospital was built at Malabar in Memory of Henry O'Farrell who's Actions got the Eureka Flag...

This is such a wonderful family-friendly spot by the water. Unfortunately the new playground upgrade falls short of the previous playground. There is now far less equipment / variety for the kids. There is a huge climbing frame with a slide at the top, which is the main playground equipment. Compared to the previous playground, it's really very disappointing. The rest of the space is filled with landscaping plus some play equipment for babies and toddlers. There is now a lot less swings then the previous playground, despite plenty of room for more. The sandy ground has been replaced with soft fall, however they have left a dedicated area for sand play, which I found to be a practical addition. It's otherwise still a lovely area, with takeaway food and coffee available from the canteen, as well as sit down meals and takeaway available from the wharf (Sandy Bear Cafe) or nearby restaurant (both have stunning views). There is a toilet block nearby, plenty of shade, grass, seating (including tables), the beach, and plenty of areas to...

Clontarf’s netted tidal pool can be found smack dab in the middle of Clontarf Beach, overlooked by large lush lawns shaded by Norfolk Pines. It’s perfect for picnics and the place is buzzing with families doing just that, while plenty more hug the shoreline shallows of this calm and safe stretch of Sydney Harbour. When you swim out towards the shark net the delighted squeals of children fade into the background and you can relax and take in the beautiful surrounds of bobbing boats and sunny skies. It’s all very civilised and genteel, as you’d expect from this well-to-do North Shore neighbourhood. The ample car park ($10 per hour) is packed with Teslas and Beemers, while the Bosk Clontarf kiosk serves fancy bowls, upmarket burgers and kombucha. This is definitely one of the better harbour tidal pools and the facilities are all first-rate. We’ll be filling this one under “worth returning to”.

A fantastic family-friendly spot with a cracking history. 📒 Clontarf is where Prince Alfred (Queen Victoria's son, Duke of Edinburgh) was shot in the back in 1868. He recovered, and money donated in his honour became the RPA (Royal Prince Alfred) Hospital in Camperdown. 🍭 There's a lovely playground, here. See my playground review for full details. ☕ Two nearby cafes, Sandy Bear and Bosk. 🚻 Public toilets ⛱️ Very calm beach. The tidal pool is undergoing renovations until mid-2023, but there are still plenty of parts to swim. 🚘 Plenty of parking in a lot, but of course it gets busy if the weather is fantastic. ❗ Wander all the way to the north side and you'll see an old pumping station, designed by Bradfield, of Harbour Bridge fame!

Excellent family friendly park. Located alongside the water - handy spot to swim. Views of The Spit. Lots of shade from the large trees. Children’s play equipment is located reminder shading. Hikers can walk along the coast to Manly from this park. Public toilets. Cafe located in the middle of the park. Plenty of car parking. East walk to the marina and also to The Spit Bridge. The Queen’s son, Prince Alfred, was shot in this park on the 12th March 1868 - the story of what happened on this day is written on the southern-facing walls of public toilets on the park.
