Attended the Sunrise Coffee and Kayak this morning.
Thank you to Moss, Gabby and Neil for being super fun, friendly and engaging! Took many photos for the group!
Difficulty - 1/5 Relaxing and beginner friendly. Calm waters in the morning, easy to paddle. Used single-seater kayaks which were quite stable, but still potentially capsizable with rocky waters/wake. (Noone capsized despite all being beginners/first-timers, so rest assured!)
Accessibility - 3.5/5 As the sunrise kayaking is an early morning session, it can be difficult to access via public transport services (due to infrequency in the early hours, however can be done - I woke up late and ended up catching an uber, quite an expensive mistake 😭). Street parking is available for free in the early morning sessions right at the meeting point.
Later sessions would be very accessible via train and bus (on the way there it is all decline, but be warned about the hilly terrain!)
Experience - 4.5/5; Views - 5/5 As it is a beginner-friendly session (and also primarily for sunrise views), it was a bit underwhelming as it was a slow, chill paddle from Lavendar Bay to the other side of the harbour bridge. The life vests had a little pocket in front which was able to hold big phones (I have an S23 Ultra) - They also supplied us with microfibre cloths to wipe our phones down but it was completely dry in the pockets anyways. The guides were super proactive in capturing the sunrise photos of the guests which was super nice to see!
Would have loved to paddle a bit further though! The coffee/beverage was a nice little addition that elevated the experience :) - the thermos kept the drinks super well insulated throughout the whole trip.
Staff/service - 5/5 Reminders were sent out at appropriate intervals which is super good - would love if there was an opt-in option for SMS notifications! Staff were super helpful and instructions were clearly explained. Support was super responsive despite me emailing very last-minute out of hours as well - thank you Hayley!
Price: $$/$$$ A little steep for youths/young adults (Paid $197) but still an amazing, worthwhile experience! The full 2 hours were used kayaking :)
Tl;dr Sunrise Kayaking was definitely a worthwhile experience and would recommend for any young adults hoping to get spectacular views!
Again - thank you Moss, Gabby and Neil for being fun, engaging and proactive!
(Please note, at the time of posting I have yet to receive photos as it is being uploaded to google drive/unable to be airdropped immediately as I am not an...
Read moreWe’ve lived in Sydney for a while and have known this kayak tour, thinking it would not be my thing (as not being an athlete for my whole life) - but it actually WAS my thing!!! Thank you so much Kati, TJ, Marcos for the wonderful tour!
There are plenty of reasons I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone- •the guides were AMAZING! Their friendliness, knowledge (fun facts :)) were over the top • the kayak was stable and light, easy to control for a beginner • you will not get too wet thanks to the help of the tour guides •the view of course, is wonderful- was used to the view from lavender bay but is totally different from on the water (And the guides know which spot is the best) •you will already start thinking about booking another tour on your way back to the beach •you can take your phone with you, but will also instantly get great photos taken by the guides (they all have good camera on their phones)
Special thanks especially to Kati, for making me feel like never left out in the group with warm chat and care (while it was easier than I worried, I still was not a great kayaker yet…and my husband was too good he sometimes didn’t realize I was a bit behind)
Also, this tour was one of our special dates to celebrate our 10 years anniversary w/o kids. It was adventurous, romantic and we got great couple photos for the first time in a while🫶 cannot be more...
Read moreAbsolutely loved it!!! Did the clean up kayak tour at 9.30 am. Ben, Laura, Chris, Alex and Andreas were all welcoming. Everything was well organised and started on time with our guides Chris and Alex making sure we had all the essentials (sunblock, water and sunnies), followed by our briefing.
It was so sad to see the rubbish in the water, but it felt so rewarding to do our tiny part in cleaning the bay and making it a better place. Chris and Alex guided us around the bay and kept chatting with us and took loads of photos of us. We then got to kayak around and ended the tour with a photo under the harbour bridge with the opera house in the background.
I would say the the tour is definitely value for money and rewarding at the same time. All you need to do is bring a bottle of water, hat, sunblock, sunnies and a positive attitude, and the guys will take care of the rest. You can leave your belongings in their van, while you kayak around. Wear some clothing you don't mind getting wet, and take your camera and go pro(if you've got one) and...
