We booked a one-bedroom apartment for 17 nights in The Milson building via the agent Kirribilli Village Apartments (who have their own website) and this worked well - they were very competent, thorough and obliging. There are other agents who also rent apartments in this building.||||Our apartment was on the 10th floor on the bay/west side and was of 'superior' designation, thus giving the advertised 'partial view' of the Harbour Bridge. In the event, we found this aspect had been understated: the Bridge is large and clear to the left from the balcony, with the direct view being of the upper harbour and, below, Lavender Bay. In all, this view was utterly spectacular and a real pleasure for us. Note, though, you should try to ensure you get an apartment no lower than the 7th floor; below that level, the direct view becomes obscured by a building across the street, although the Bridge always remains clearly visible from the bay/west side of the building.||||The apartment itself exceeded our expectations. The lounge/dining area was most spacious, the bedroom was a good size, as was the bathroom. The kitchen, though, was very small indeed, with virtually no counter space. Note I believe that no two internal layouts of these apartments are necessarily the same, so other kitchens may be more spacious. The kitchen was equipped with a small fridge, hotplates and micowave, plus a good supply of crockery, utensils, etc. There was a large, full-length balcony with table and chairs.||||We found the location to be excellent for getting about. The Milson's Point train station is about 3 minutes' walk away, from where trains run every few minutes across the Bridge into the city. Alternatively, you can walk over the Bridge itself, surely one of life's great experiences. Alternatively, a ferry leaves from Milson's Point dock, about a 10-minute walk away, for Circular Quay every 30 minutes. This short journey, passing under the Bridge and past the Opera House. must be one of the world's most iconic mini-jouneys.||||There is a nearby convenience store, open 7 days, just a minute's walk away, where you can get provisions. A wider selection of shops, in Kirribilli Village, is 5 minutes' walk.||||There is, however,. one disadvantage to the location ( and virtually all others on Milson's Point) and that is its proximity to the Luna Park fun fair, directly below. This park operates 7 days a week, 12 hours a day (longer on weekends) and the noise is constant. It's not so much noise of the fair itself, but the shrieks of people on the rides. This is clearly audible on the balcony (even on the 10th floor) where it can get irritating but, inside with the doors closed, it's not really noticeable.||||We were very satisfied indeed with our apartment in The Milson (and with the service of Kirribilli Village Apartments) - it really made our holiday. We can highly recommend it, if you don't mind the background noise of...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with Milson Apartment. We arrived very late (10:30 PM) due to flight and taxi delays. Upon arrival, hotel was close, we tried calling the hotel, but no one answered. Looking through my Booking.com messages, I realized we were supposed to notify the hotel 30 minutes before arriving for someone to check us in—something we had forgotten to do. I then called the duty manager, but there was no response on the first attempt. On the second attempt, he answered, and we had to wait 20 minutes for him to arrive, because we waited for him, it was 11pm, in this hotel after 11pm they charge you $55 which I don’t get it it’s unacceptable.
After checking in and entering the apartment, the issues began. There was a terrible smell, cockroaches running around (with photos to prove it), and the dishes were filthy, still covered with food residue and grease. Unclean ice trays with HAIR in it, so disgusting. The bed and pillows were incredibly uncomfortable, and in the bathroom, there was no soap provided—only two small handwashing tablets. Bring your own toiletries!
The apartment is poorly maintained, with chipped paint and general neglect. The only positive aspects are the view and the location, but they do not make up for the experience. I spent my first day of vacation cleaning the apartment and using essential oils to mask the awful smell.
We stayed for 15 days and only had housekeeping come once. Guests are also required to clean the apartment before leaving to avoid being charged extra fees. For $4,250 for 15 days, the service and conditions were unacceptable. If you want a nice view for New Year’s Eve, this place might work, but otherwise, avoid it. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend it given the poor value for money. I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews beforehand, as I now see that I’m not the only who had...
Read moreFirst thing is the view is AMAZING especially for New Year's Eve. The staff are friendly and try to help when they can. Light rail a close walk. The negatives are as follows. If you are a side sleeper you will find the bed very uncomfortable. The place was dirty on balcony and bathroom. Safe in room was non functional. Fridge alarm started from day one and continued for 11 days. A very high pitched alarm which caused loss of sleep and stress. Owner gave us back $250 from our $4,000 stay. I will now invest this money in ear medicine and a good bottle of whiskey for distressing. Your idea of periodic is way different than mine. When an event occurs every day from the first day with an average alarm time of 15 hours a day it should not be considered periodic. I consider it more of a constant problem. When writing my review and mentioned the balcony being dirty I wondered if you would take the low road and mention the fires. I have personally volunteered to fight two forest fires in my country. I know that forest fires don't deposit cobwebs and food waste. I am trying to find a way to post the video I took so potential customers can hear an ear piercing alarm we had to endure CONSTANTLY. If we had the choice of a silent non functioning fridge or the ear piercing one we endured it would have been an...
