Quick service with a smile was the highlight of the meal. After that it was all downhill.
First, when you order wine at a restaurant charging as much for a glass as you can get at a bottle shop for a full bottle you expect them to remember what wine you ordered. FAIL. The waiter walks out with two glasses of white, I ordered red, they weren't even sure which red it was that was on the menu.
Next, the dishes come, a plate of what looked like garlic bread with a glop of yellowish goop on it was served to my friend, no explanation if this was provided, oly that it was an addition to the butter already on the bread. It was served with my friend's seafood bouillabaisse, which the waiter succeeded in spilling on my friend's sweater and pants. With a very trite "sorry" he set down her dish, then my mushroom risotto, and was about to depart without further attention until my friend had to ask for additional napkins to be provided.
Taste-wise my dish was delicious, the fragrance upon delivery, the melted cheese within the risotto and overall flavor mix was delightful. Not too hot to scald my mouth, and it kept its heat till the last tasty bite.
What ruined the experience (beyond the wine FAIL and the spillage was two bumps on my shoulder and a bump to my friend during the main course, none of which dislodged additional food to our clothing thank goodness, but still interrupted conversation and consumption.
Finally, a butter knife flew from above me launching from the kitchen to bounce off my leg, no idea where it originated and another cursory "sorry mate" from the general direction of the kitchen.
To add insult to physical and mental injury, upon exit the manager had the gall to accuse us of doing something wrong when we reported the spillage and other issues. He demanded to know who spilled the food, our response was to pay better attention and train his staff.
Final word: if you want some good food try your luck (or lick) at Piato, you...
Read moreSo I ordered a Soy cappuccino, not only did Piato got it wrong when they gave me the soy latte, they did not apologise for giving me the wrong order and insist that a latte and cappuccino is the same coffee! Would not recommend going there again, just bad customer service! #badcustomerservice #piato #mcmahonpoint #coffee #cafe #badcafe
Reply to their latest comment here: The only apology I got was now from your response here, my colleagues were there to witness the whole situation, definitely no apology when I question your staff why I received a latte instead of a cappuccino.
2.Takeaway coffee doesn't make the milk the same, please go back to coffee school and learn to know there is a thick foam in cappuccino where latte had very light layer of foam, the coffee I received was flat milk and had no foam. "A traditional cappuccino has an even distribution of espresso, steamed milk, and foamed milk. A latte has way more steamed milk and a light layer of foam. A cappuccino is distinctly layered, while in a latte the espresso and steamed milk are blended together."
This is not a minor oversight, I ordered a Soy cap and received a Soy latte, it like saying you wanted to buy orange but received mandarins instead. Two...
Read moreI booked our family into Sails on Lavender Bay hoping to enjoy celebrating our daughter's very special milestone of turning 21. Upon arrival, the waiters very curtly told us that we were not allowed to have her birthday cake there. I explained that the girl who made the reservation said that we could..they still said 'no'. There was no care in their voices..they didn't even pretend to care. Feeling really upset, I called Piato Restaurant and explained the situation. Without hesitation, they said that we could have the 21st birthday cake there. Upon arrival, we were made feel very welcome. After showing us to our seats the lovely waiter took the cake and prepared it all for us. With his happy and friendly disposition, the waiter brought it out to our daughter along with the candles all lit and cake topper neatly placed. He soon had everyone singing, Happy Birthday to her. She loved it, even if she was a little shy about all the attention. We ordered coffees to go with the cake and we all agreed they were the best coffees. Thank you Piato, you did this out of the kindness of your hearts and turned a disappointing afternoon into a happy one. We'll be back as we can't wait to taste the food on your menu..it looks...
