World Square in Sydney’s CBD is a really good urban space that offers a nice balance between convenience, comfort, and energy. One of the things I enjoy most about it is the outdoor plaza area. It’s well-designed and has a spacious, open feel despite being surrounded by tall buildings. The lighting in the patio area is particularly pleasant—soft and inviting in the evenings, making it an ideal place to sit and relax after a day in the city. The lighting display in the plaza also adds a touch of atmosphere that’s especially enjoyable for families. It creates a sense of playfulness and wonder that kids really seem to love, and it makes the space feel safe and engaging after dark. There’s enough room for children to move around while parents can sit nearby with a coffee or a bite to eat. There’s a good range of shops and food options within World Square, catering to a mix of quick snacks, sit-down meals, and everyday essentials. It’s easy to access from different parts of the city, and the layout makes it convenient to navigate without feeling overwhelmed by crowds. Overall, it’s a well-thought-out public space that functions not just as a shopping destination, but as a community-friendly gathering point. It’s a place I find myself returning to often, whether for a casual meal, to meet up with friends, or just to enjoy a bit of open-air calm in the middle of the city

World Square is an open-concept shopping mall packed with eateries and a small number of shops. You wouldn't head here for the experience, per se, but it's a great place to have on your radar. Pretty much no matter what you need after a big day in the city, you can find it here. 🍜 Authentic Chinese food without the hustle of Chinatown? Boom. 🌯 Quick burritos? Yup. ☕ Need coffee? Gotcha covered. 🍫 Chocolate craving? Here you go. And I think even a post office. And an electronics shop and supermarket. It's a great place to know about, because it's never as busy as the rest of the city. 📶 Free Wi-Fi 🚻 Located on the ground floor, behind the stairs in front of you if your back is to George St. 🐮 Check out 'The Challenge', the large bull sculpture at the Pitt St entrance!

World Square is a fantastic spot for shopping, dining, and just hanging out in the heart of the city. The variety of stores is impressive, from popular retail brands to unique specialty shops, and there's always a great selection of food options to choose from, whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or a nice sit-down meal. The atmosphere is lively, and the layout is easy to navigate, making it a fun place to explore. The only downside is that it can get pretty crowded, especially during peak hours, which makes it a bit hard to move around comfortably. But overall, World Square is a solid choice for a day out in Sydney, and it has something for everyone!

I have been a long term 20 years plus resident in just around the corner of World Square Shopping Centre.

I have a disabled teenager son who i have been taking him to the World Square Shopping Centre since he was a baby until now he is a 16 years old teenager. I cannot believed how dirty, smelly, how unhygenie and almost 80 per cent plus of the toilet room is so.. so dirty that happened every single time when i went to the ladies room or taking my disabled son to the Disabled Toilet from 5 years ago.

WORLD SQUARE SHOPPING CENTRE FEMALE TOILET & DISABLED TOILET IS THE MOST DIRTIEST MOST UNHYGIENIC TOILET I EVER SEEN FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS UNTIL TODAY!

I have NEVER EVER seen a cleaner come to clean the toilet for the record.

I feel so ASHAMED as a World Square resident which WORLD SQUARE SHOPPING CENTRE is supposed to be one of the Sydney CBD tourist attractions place!!!

Whoever is in charge with World Square Shopping Centre managements please start ASAP to do everyone a huge favour to do the right things CLEAN THE TOILET & especially for the very CORONAVIRUS SEASON NOW!!!

Please, please just spent some money to hire more cleaners to keep our Sydney CBD World Square tourist attractions spots as a nice, clean & beautiful memories for the tourist not the SMELLY MEMORIES IN SYDNEY CBD TOURIST ATTRACTIONS SPOT TO DISGRACE SYDNEY!

I have no photos to show to the public because I FEEL SUFFOCATED everytime i went to World Square Shopping Centre Female Toilet & Disabled Toilet and i just wanna leave immediately!!!

Lastly i hope the World Square Shopping Centre Managements will take this UNHYGIENIC TOILET CONCERN seriously and CONSIDER THE HEALTH CONCERN FOR ALL THE VISITORS & ALL WORKERS IN THE WORLD SQUARE SHOPPING CENTRE!!!

Second review in October 2022

Hi Owner & World Square Shopping Centre Management,

Here is for your update for October 2022. Unfortunately your management has simply disregard my helpful review/feedback/suggestions to your toilet hygiene improvement instead it becomes WORSE than before.

I tried to upload the video I filmed this week at the World Square Shopping Centre toilet for you & public information but it failed to upload in your review website.

I have posted my short video in you tube of your dirty toilet without toilet paper and no handwash in soap dispenser & no hand sanitize in you tube if you concern about this issue.

Lastly,I will follow up this toilet unhygienic health and safety concerns to the public to the NSW Health Department as your management has decided not to act or make any improvements for public health and safety concerns.

SHAME on your management decided not to act or improve the cleaning services system and continue to disregard public health and...

They refused to let my friend leave the carpark and tried to demand more money despite having a pre-paid booking.

My friend prepaid for all-day parking at World Square (Point Parking) and was prevented from exiting the carpark, despite being a couple of hours WITHIN the booked time slot. My friend was told they had to pay for an additional full day just to leave.

My friend has parked there for over 5 years and has never encountered this issue. When my friend raised concerns that the charge may be illegal under Australian Consumer Law, staff were rude, refused to escalate the call and hung up. Reviews on the Point Parking World Square carpark suggest this may not be an isolated incident.

Point Parking claims this is allowed due to a vague disclaimer on their website: “Please ensure you enter and exit the car park within 30 minutes of your scheduled booking times to avoid additional fees.” However, this wording is ambiguous. A reasonable consumer would interpret it as a 30-minute grace period either side of their booking (e.g., entering at 8:30am and exiting at 5:30pm for a 9am–5pm booking), not a penalty for exiting before the booking ends.

Under Australian Consumer Law, businesses cannot enforce disclaimers that contradict the fundamental purpose of a contract. My friend feels that in this case, it contradicts the purpose of pre-booking parking.

My friend has parked in carparks all over Sydney and has never had this issue elsewhere. Wilson Parking, for example, appears to offer a 1-hour grace period before and after your booking. Secure Parking appears to have a similar policy. As does Sydney Airport, although they appear to offer a rolling booking system.

Point Parking’s practice feels misleading, deceptive, and exploitative. The extra fee wasn’t clearly disclosed, and charging an entire extra day feels excessive — more like a penalty than a genuine fee. My friend felt trapped when they refused to open the gate and pressured when they tried to make them pay more than they agreed to.

My friend has reported this to the ACCC. It’s a shame because they used to be a frequent customer of World Square, but will be avoiding Point Parking...

Located on the site of the former Horden Brothers Department Store (of Horden Pavilion fame) bounded by George, Pitt, Bathurst & Goulburn Streets. It is serviced by the adjacent Chinatown L2 L3 light rail service and new Gadigal metro station. Has the largest Coles store in the CBD, along with a JB HI-FI outlet, several telecommunications providers including Optus, a number of expected familiar franchises like The North Face, Hype etc. and a diverse selection of dining cuisines.

Fairy lights on the trees located in the walk-through courtyard complement other lighting effects at night, making this an appealing place for a quick break. There are public toilets available for those who require a restroom.

Well designed and well maintained... however it's a shame the original heritage building was demolished unlike the contemporaneous Queen Victoria Building and Mark Foys Department store, which were refurbished or repurposed.

One hilarious fact: the monorail, which once circled a small portion of the CBD when the Sydney Entertainment Centre was operational, had a station located at World Square. At that time, World Square existed as a massive hole in the ground, as it had done and would continue to do so for many years. By the time World Square had completed construction, the monorail had been decommissioned and disassembled, with a World Square station servicing nothing except a footpath along its...
