Disappointed and Disgusted: A Review of Guzman y Gomez
I recently visited Guzman y Gomez, hoping for a quick and tasty meal, but what I encountered was far from appetizing. It pains me to write this, as I had heard many positive things about the place, but my experience was anything but good. My recent visit left me deeply disappointed and disgusted, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning anytime soon.
The restaurant’s ambiance was initially welcoming, and I was looking forward to indulging in what I hoped would be a delicious meal. The menu offered a wide variety of options, and I settled on a burrito, expecting a flavorful experience. However, my excitement quickly turned to horror when I discovered a long piece of hair embedded in my food.
At first, I couldn’t believe it. I thought maybe it was just a stray string of cheese or something else that wasn’t as disgusting, but as I pulled it out, it was clear that it was indeed a human hair. The thought of it still makes my stomach churn. This level of negligence in food preparation is completely unacceptable, especially from a restaurant that prides itself on fresh and high-quality ingredients.
What made the situation even worse was the staff's reaction when I brought it to their attention. Instead of an immediate and sincere apology, I was met with indifference. The staff seemed inconvenienced by my complaint and offered nothing more than a half-hearted apology and a quick offer to replace the meal. By then, my appetite was completely gone, and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth—both literally and figuratively.
To add insult to injury, there was no offer of a refund or any kind of compensation for the distress caused. It felt like my complaint was just brushed off, as if finding a hair in your food is a normal occurrence at Guzman y Gomez. The lack of care and concern for hygiene was alarming, to say the least.
In conclusion, my experience at Guzman y Gomez was an utter disappointment. The discovery of hair in my food and the staff’s lackluster response were enough to ensure that I won’t be returning. There are plenty of other places where I can enjoy a meal without worrying about what might be lurking in my food, and I suggest others do the same. If you value cleanliness and good customer service, I’d recommend avoiding...
Read moreOrdered a burrito over the app at 10am that day thinking 'oh cool, $10 all day burrito'. Got to the World Square store and found a mob of 40 other office types, uber eats riders & school kids overcrowding the 2 underpaid wait staff, yelling out with the same energy as Homer Simpson yelling out 'wheres my burrito'.
I realized I was not going to get the burrito I scheduled for 1pm, so I grabbed a seat and just did my best to keep an ear out. Observered the clown owners or whoever from guttman corporate take a bunch of photos themselves, patting themselves on the back for understaffing the joint, yelling out 'GOOD JOB EVERYONE' and then high tailing it like cowards instead of jumping in the trench and helping getting orders out to their screwed over customers. Got my mistake of a burrito at 1:34pm.
I am blessed that I don't work on a strict 1 hour lunch break, but tough beans for the other cubicle slaves, uber eats drivers and school kids that had to go back to class.
If anyone works here, please know that you can do better in life. Consider joining your union (Retail and Fastfood Workers Union is probably more appropriate over the SDA) as whoever runs the joint clearly couldn't roster enough staff that day, so you should be asking yourselves how else you are getting...
Read moreI've been getting burritos here for about 18 months since I moved into the building. In that time they have increased the price of the burrito twice, and now I think they've implemented some new measurement system because my last 5 burritos have all come out half empty and lopsided because the tortilla is holding air and folded over itself four times just so it can close.
Prices gone up and volume gone down - $14 for a half empty burrito.
*EDIT
I followed the instructions of the comment below and emailed customer service. They asked for a photo of the burrito, so I went and ordered a burrito. What I got was a burrito so empty that it didn't even close properly and had mostly air in it. I just asked for a refund on the spot, I was super polite about it but the staff and manager both got emotional about it, acting like I was the problem.
Hilariously I see that someone else has reviewed saying they worked at GyG for 4 years and know the quantity that's supposed to go in the burritos, and that this place is ripping people off.
Anyway, customer service did not get the photo they were looking for because I couldn't bring myself to pay $14 for a half empty tortilla.
I really wish we had a different Mexican take away here in the building, this...
