some macaws looked very stressed one was screaming at the edge of the cage to get out and two of the cockatiels had missing feathers on their chest which is a sign that they are very stressed and resort to plucking out their own feathers not great yall should send these babies to a place that will actually care for them. flamingo show made no sense they were just walking in a circle and then the guy kept asking us to clap, also made some snarky remarks and would of been better if he just kept some things to himself. he was also reading from a paper the whole time which left the show feeling ver boring and with very little effort and thought put into it, the animal shows ive seen have all been memorized and they know how to talk to and engage and interact with the guests in a respectful manner all while keeping them learning and asking questions. i understand trying to make the show entertaining but it would be more beneficial for their enrichment to actually teach the flamingoes something instead of just clapping and walking really close behind them while pushing them to move and telling people to line up for pictures with a flamingo pose that he forced you to do. also the animal talk was just one girl sitting there waiting for people to come up to her to hold a baby turtle. it was really cute turtle but seemed a little to casual and was expecting like an actual show in the arena with a nice presentation and an educational speech laid out to explain to their guests. the girl just kept asking us if we have any more questions for her the whole time and looked like she did not want to be there. also a lot of the animals looked lonely. for instance the monkey and capybara which are social animals were both alone. monekys are way too intelligent to be in a bi cage by himself thats not a good sign of their welfare and his emotionl wellbeing, the snakes could use a bigger enclosure and the sheep could be better taken care of they were all covered in dirt and their fur was very matted he was also begging me ftom food and was so hungry he ate a flower. seems like they feed the animals way too late their or way too little, all the waters were dirty in the enclosures. turkey also looked really hot and was hyperventaliting when i saw him. it would be nice to add a little kiddie pool and more space for them as it is a very hot climate. as well as for the flamingoes as i did not see any watering hole. they also mentioned feeding them carrots to keep their pink color?? flamingoes are supposed to eat shrimp and thats an important part of their diet so really confused as to why they are not including that but maybe they are they did not touch much on that. not really sure what this place is doing for conservation. tickets are way too high priced and it seems they need to put the highly priced tickets to use for the animals wellbeing and fixing up the habitats and focusing on improving their care and welfare of their animals. also confused as to why some chickens and peacocks were let out but others werent. they should all at least get free range of the place. gift shop also looked really old like they had things still up from 10+ years ago with souvenirs of animals that i did not even see at the park. still had a good time regardless but yall need to put your money to better use and actually focus more on your animals wellbeing and trainig the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter our visit today I felt so disheartened to see how sad and malnourished the āprotectedā animals appeared. Not to mention their tiny enclosures. The Animals look under weight Iām surprised the zoo has ratings as highly as I have read. I am a huge animal lover & therefore have been to a variety of zoos all over the world & this one is the worse by far. The zoo aught to be reported to animals welfare agencies. It would be nice to see some major changes to benefit the animals lifes forever. I mean the caiman didnāt even have water. When I approached a zoo keeper to ask why, he replied; because they just splash it all out; they intentionally drain it during the day when temperatures are reaching 80-100 degrees. It is a disgrace. Caimans natural habitats are swaps, lakes, rivers. But not for these guys. Iām not kidding they had no water & were both tucked up in the top half of a kitty litter tray, which appear to me like garbage. Beautiful reptiles like these deserve more respect when their entire lifeās are spent caged. I had to stop myself from telling the zoo keepers about themselves. They should feel ashamed to keep innocent & endangered animals like this. They have a lot of birds, none of their enclosures are anywhere near big enough, nor do they endure the correct facilityās. There was an eagle type bird that looked to be in bad health, he looked limp & lifeless. The serval worried me the most, drastically underweight, visibly showing pelvic bones. Itās body was so thin and withdrawn. Appalling environment. The zoo is run down & the animals should...

I left Ardastra Gardens feeling deeply troubled. Many of the animals did not appear well cared for. I just keep thinking about this poor parrot sitting in its own feces, with broken perches lying inside the enclosure. In that same habitat, the bird was screaming nonstop, and I noticed loose screws that could easily injure him. It was heartbreaking.
Right next to him, another parrot was nearly attacking visitors and clearly seemed distressed by the presence of the Disney Cruise Line group. It really makes you wonder how Disney can support a facility where animals are left in their own excrement and exposed to such poor conditions.
No one was there to speak with us or offer any information. It seems like the staff only focus on large tour groups, which must be their priority, but if you come on your own, youāre left completely on your own and very poorly welcomed.
Also, the waiver at the entrance makes no sense. They ask you to fill it out, but no one checks the names or verifies anything anyway.
Even the flamingo show, which could have been charming, felt chaotic. If you pay close attention, the zookeeper seemed unsure of what he was doing. He was chasing the birds around rather than guiding them calmly.
This is not a conservation center. It does not reflect genuine care or respect for the animals. I cannot recommend supporting this place. Very...
