This restaurant, recommended by a frequent Bahamian visitor, in short, had a long wait time, low quality food, but big portions, and poor service. In detail, despite multiple requests to be seated, we were ignored for over 15 minutes. The host, initially seated us three women (our three guys walked in 5 minutes after), introduced us to a waiter who never arrived at our table after the guys came. After 40 minutes, we assigned someone else as our waiter, that was the only reason the actual waiter came by one time acting “confused”.

The Karaoke in the front of the restaurant and the turtles in the back were a highlight.

The food took over an hour to arrive, with two meals coming out first, one of which was incorrect. Utensils were never replaced after they took it when bringing the first two meals, so I had to ask for them after my meal was given 15 minutes afterwards. My fried lobster was bland, the fries were soggy, and the macaroni and cheese had a hard cheese topping, but underneath was okay.

By the time the fifth person’s food arrived, us three had finished eating. I only ate the macaroni and cheese. The waiter never returned to address the lobster issue, and a hostess arrived 30 minutes later with the fifth person’s meal, which was also incorrect. After complaining, the sixth person finally received their meal over an hour and 40 minutes after ordering. The last two ordered fried snapper and everyone tried a bit and that was the only tasty meal (just the fish and rice not their mac and other sides) from the mountain of food choices we order from shrimp, conch, lobster, and more. They do get “big” portion, but it’s a waste.

We never spoke to the waiter until we asked the hostess for the check four times. When the real waiter finally arrived, I asked him to remove the lobster from the ticket, as he mentioned it might not be refunded. I told him it was never eaten except for one bite. Despite our efforts to remain calm, two ladies insisted that I had eaten it and demanded a refund request has to be within 15 minutes of the order and only one bite taken. We tried not to blame the waiter, but he never returned to our table. When we showed them it was only one bite, they mumbled angrily and left.

Later that night, a taxi driver told us that the restaurant had stopped cooking with love a long time ago and recommended another spot...

It might have been one of the worst experiences for dinner for our family. Crazy thing, we were here 3 years ago and had a good experience with good food.

We entered the restaurant at 7:45pm and the lady up front said they are totally full you can’t be seated for two hours. I made the mistake of asking to walk back and take a look around. When I got to the back there were 3-4 open tables for six and I asked the waiter if we could sit. He said sure, we were slammed but everyone closed out their tabs at the same time, please have a seat.

Our waitress was pleasant enough, but it actually felt like we were not wanted there . We ordered 6 meals, some drinks and apps. The apps came quickly then we didn’t see a server for an hour. We asked another associate for a second round of drinks. She said sure but didn’t do anything. 15 minutes later I went to the bar and eventually got them myself. The food finally arrived some of it cold, some good some horrible. Two meals went uneaten.

I expressed our surprise and even asked did we do something wrong since I can’t remember such a poor experience. The level of disinterest was incredible. Business must be so good now that they just don’t care about people’s experiences. Two other tables around us just got up and left, while another rolled their eyes at us, like “what is really going on here”.

We love supporting local restaurants when we travel, but this place seems like they actually only want local patrons. If you are ever in the Bahamas traveling please skip this place. Eat at your hotel or go get fast food, either will be a far...

VERY disappointing recent experience. Friends and family frequent Goldie's on the weekend and have for years. I often recommend it to people visiting. I can't anymore. Went during a quiet time today for lunch. It took a very, very long time to get the food which wasn't ideal but something we were okay with because we were enjoying the company. One of the orders was for a Grouper Dinner, what arrived at the table was one bite of grouper meat and then fried fish slop (not an exaggeration). We brought it to the attention of the server, who informed the manager...we never caught the manager's name but they were a quite rotund, very rude and adversarial woman (literally adversarial). The manager's response would have you thinking that SHE had been served the poor excuse for an expensive grouper dinner!? The very first thing out of her mouth when she arrived at our table wasn't "I'm sorry, what seems to be the issue?", but instead "You never had Grouper before, aye?" (our family has lived in the Bahamas for generations and consumed plenty of Grouper, but it felt pointless to respond to such a ridiculous question from a nasty human). The rest of the exchange with them was impressively dismissive and unprofessional; it was BY FAR the worst experience I've ever had with a manager in the service sector. Unfortunate, but fortunately there are lots of other great options within 40 yards of Goldie's. Spend your time and...

Goldie’s Conch House sits in the row of local spots at The Fish Fry, a popular area where you’ll find a mix of tourists and locals grabbing Bahamian seafood. It came recommended by a couple of locals, so we decided to give it a try. We started with the conch fritters ($6). They had good-sized chunks of conch, and the batter was seasoned well. The conch itself was a little rubbery, but since this was my first time trying it, I can’t say if that’s just the nature of conch or if it was slightly overcooked. For mains, I ordered the lobster fettuccine ($40). The pasta and cream sauce were tasty, and they mixed in carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli—an unusual but welcome addition. The lobster, though, was overcooked and ended up chewy, which took away from the dish. My husband went with the “cheeseburger snack” ($16), which was basically a standard cheeseburger, but cooked right. It was juicy, pink in the middle, and hit the spot. Service was solid. Our server (wish I had caught his name) was attentive and respectful without hovering. Bottom line: Goldie’s was fine, but it didn’t wow me. The bill came to about $90 for three people, which felt a little steep for what we got. Still, if you want to try conch for the first time or stick to something simple like a burger, it’s a decent stop while exploring The Fish Fry.

Ordered fish sticks for appetizer (forgot to take pics) but it was so tasty. Lightly battered and fried and it’s more like filets not sticks. For dinner I had shrimp pack (fried shrimp with fries) My son had sautéed pork chop with peas and rice, fried, Mac and cheese with sautéed veggies…my son was in heaven! My other son ordered jerk chicken with peas and rice, fries, and Mac and cheese and it was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend ordered lobster and shrimp fettuccini and oh my it’s got to be the best we have had in quite sometime! We stayed at the Atlantis….we did a rum walking tour and this place was recommended by our taxi driver, the owner of islandz tour, and our tour guide Cody. Well worth the taxi ride and by far the best meal we have had the entire stay for this vacation! I would highly recommend taking the taxi ride to come eat here. Prices were phenomenal compared to Atlantis and the food was amazing with great portion sizes (my sons are 6’7” and 6’4” and athletic - they eat nonstop) not sure why some reviews mention prices being high but the whole meal here was about 1/2 if not less than that for what we have spent at the resort.

Be prepared to WAIT! Food took 90 minutes to start to come out, and another 15 for all meals to arrive. They warn you with a sign on the wall, and it's a local restaurant versus a tourist stop but comes highly recommended and not far from the ports so wasting 2 + hours on a meal if you are on a limited time budget I recommend going somewhere not in the Fish Fry area! Food is good although some of our food came out cold, and some definitely needed salt! We had the seafood platter (fish, shrimp, and conch) as well as a 2 shrimp platters and 2 conch platters. The conch was ok but some pieces the breading was moist and not fried all the way. Shrimp and fish were both good! The drinks at the bar were a miss. A vodka soda with lime had the weakest pour of vodka and our white Russian had enough alcohol to inebriate a Russian military unit. The water bottle also came already opened and we asked for another one that was still sealed.
