If I could give negative stars to get my time and money back, I would. Instead I hope to dissuade any future visitors falling into the same trap.
TLDNR; went for dinner, was offered fixed price menu with food and drink, food never came, when we left we were scammed out of additional money.
We found the strip of restaurants where the Big Yard Fish Fry was located while driving back to the cruise terminal. We decided to stop and grab dinner ashore before returning for departure. At first, the atmosphere was welcoming, and we were promised a meal and unlimited drinks for a set price. Drinks were watered down rum and juice, but nothing out of the ordinary for the unlimited offers on any of the islands. It was more about hanging out with my wife and 3 kids and enjoying the atmosphere rather than the liquor. We placed our order while it was light out, and a full hour and a half went by before we decided to leave. Before we left, I went inside the restaurant to see if there was anyone actually cooking the food. What I found was a unwelcoming set of employees trying to turn me away from seeing the scam they were perpetuating. There was no food being served from that kitchen, there was no intent to bring us food at any time. They were simply wasting our time and scamming us. The ultimate scam was that they made us pay full price for the meals when we didn't even get any food. They also charged for drinks that were to be free.
If you are in port, and want good food and a friendly local atmosphere, DO NOT GO HERE.
This is a SCAM and a TOURIST TRAP.
Other than this experience, the island was wonderful. I would highly recommend renting a jeep and exploring on your own, we found beautiful beaches and other interesting attractions that were not listed on the cruise shore...

Travelers beware. This was not island hospitality — this was negligence.
I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at this fish fry in the Bahamas was unacceptable and deserves to be called out.
We sat for two full hours before receiving our food and only after repeatedly having to get up and ask about the status of our order. During that time, no one checked in on us except once, and our drinks didn’t even arrive until 30 minutes after we were seated.
When we finally confronted our server about the delay and lack of service, there was zero accountability. No apology. Just excuses. And when I spoke to the supervisor, she tried to justify the poor service by saying we were a “large table.” We were 10 people a standard group size for any restaurant that claims to serve tourists. If you can’t handle 10 guests, you shouldn’t be in the hospitality business.
To make matters worse, they refused to remove the automatic gratuity despite the horrible service. I requested to speak with the owner, and was told he was “at home with the kids.” That response perfectly summed up the attitude here dismissive, unprofessional, and indifferent to customer experience.
I plan to call the restaurant tomorrow and give them a chance to make this right. If they do, I’ll update this review accordingly. But if they don’t take this as your warning: do NOT waste your time or money here. There are too many amazing places in the Bahamas to be treated...
Read moreI would avoid this establishment. The owner's schtick is to offer passersby drinks and conch fritters to persuade potential diners to choose his restaurant. Once you sit down, you have to keep reminding him what he promised. We never got the fritters and the Bahama mamas were in plastic shot glasses. The menus and the street sign clearly state VAT included and makes no mention of an obligatory gratuity. When we received our check, it included another 12% VAT and a 15% gratuity for an interminable wait for food and drinks. While we sat there, the owner had an angry, profane phone call that all the diners heard and a loud argument with another diner. When it was our turn to be fleeced, we pointed to the menu language and paid only what the menu required despite pleas to the contrary, and we walked out. The delicious food was nicely displayed though my dish should have been called rice and grilled conch as the rice was the majority of the entree. The disputes and inconsistent pricing and terms weren't worth the tasty food. Nassau is generally a vicious tourist trap where gouging tourists and locals is pretty much business as usual. ...
