Caribbean Fusion Brewing Company
This is a pretty new establishment. I thought it would be fun to try something off the beaten path, physically and culinary wise.
This place is off the beaten path. Like at the end of a dirt road. Spoiler alert, all the roads here are dirt.
My server was a young man named Armando. Very polite. He outlined the beers available on tap. I chose the Pickle Lager. He brought a sample. It had this hint of salt and pickle flavor at the end.
I ordered a full glass.
After a couple of sips, I ordered 6 chicken wings as an appetizer. 3 mango habanero and 3 barbecue. I had them served wet.
Not 10 minutes later I had my wings. And somehow, got an extra barbecue wing.
I bit into one of the “spicy” ones. It was tasty but nary a hint of heat or spice. Tasty though. The mango was good.
The barbecue ones were equally good.
I ordered a 1/2 pound hamburger with all topping except mustard.
And another beer, this time a traditional lager.
The burger and my beer appeared shortly thereafter. The burger was cooked as I requested, medium rare. Toppings were perfect. Red onion, tomato, lettuce, and a sauce of some sort on the patty itself. The bun was a typical white burger bun and was delicious.
It was big, too big for me. This could easily feed two in my opinion.
Something else occurred to me that I hadn’t thought about until I noticed it. Most of the restaurants use tiny little napkins. Like the size of a bar napkin. I prefer a larger napkin as I like more area to wipe my mouth and face with. I was given a napkin holder with what we as Americans consider a regular table size napkin.
After having my leftover half pound burger boxed up, I asked for my bill.
This establishment accepts cash only.
$28 USD was the cost...
Read moreI stumbled upon this side street gem and was greeted by a free flight of beer tasters to help me decide. Some great beers. They also have an extensive liquor selection, including an impressive local (Zacapa from Guatemala) that I don’t find at many places. The bar is half covered vaulted ceiling and half open air rooftop, good vibe. Our bartender Viv is the one of the kindest locals I’ve met, and I’ve met a ton of super nice locals in my time on this friendly island. Food was also good, have enjoyed everything I tried. Jalepeno poppers are legit. Told Viv I’d probably stop by every day…haven’t missed one yet and...
Read moreReally loved this place in Caye Caulker. Wanted to try some local craft beers so dropped in to find a beautiful bar and fantastic service. Viv was so helpful and friendly as were all the other staff. The beers include a Belgian beer, red ale plus some fruitier ones if you’re not into traditional beers. The bar has a great vibe and some tvs as well where they were showing some NFL games. Also tried the crocodile eggs (not real eggs, but delicious jalapeño poppers) and some of their rum collection too. Have visited a few times on the trip so far and will make sure to go back again...
