We recently visited the Murakami exhibit and had lunch at Santinho, the restaurant in the institute. Both were well worth the visit.
The exhibit featured a nice selection of recent work from Murakami. Most of the work shown here is part of a series that Murakami has developed since the tragic 2011 earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan’s pacific coast. They differ in subject matter from the artists earlier work, but they feature similar graphic treatments and exquisite attention to details. We really enjoyed it.
Our lunch at Santinho was also delicious. They serve an awesome buffet with a mix of traditional Brazilian comfort food, with new creations using common Brazilian ingredients. The buffet includes salads, main course and even desert foods. There are a lot of options for vegetarians and meat...

The children were not allowed to sit on the floor and sketch the artworks under their parents' supervision in a near-empty museum, and told to go and sit on a bench outside. A potentially memorable experience of Miró and Calder overshadowed by the museum's borderline thuggish security.
