I'd like to edit my review and thank 400 Brant for not even taking the time to apologize or even acknowledge the poor experience. It's clear they respond now only to positive reviews - just one more reason to avoid this place.
We had made reservations for our anniversary and were excited to try out 400 Brant for the first time. Despite reading some of their recently bad reviews that highlighted issues with service we decided to take our shot. Unfortunately the bad reviews were spot on.
We had a reservation for 8:30 pm, upon arrival the hostess went to go make sure our table was ready. However, during the time she was gone the manager came over to let us know that the kitchen was backed up and food would be an hour, appetizers included. Considering it was a Friday night and getting late, we decided to stay and planned to just put our food orders in right away thinking we would get our food in about an hour.
When our server came to our table she was immediately defensive and made a comment saying âdonât blame your server for the slow food tonight, itâs not my faultâ, odd but okay. We tried to put our food order in but our server told us the kitchen was closed for 40 minutes so they could catch up and she would not take our appetizer or main orders for another 40 minutes. At this point, after talking it over we decided to leave and let our server know so she could cancel our drink orders. Based on the previous mixed messaging from management and our server we were very doubtful that after 40 minutes of waiting to put our order in, our food would come out in a timely manner given there were other tables waiting around us to put their order in as well.
After telling the server we would be leaving and to cancel our drinks, she was again defensive saying that we had been told by the manager that we wouldnât be able to put our food in. Which is not true, we were advised it would be an hour for food.
We are understanding people and donât appreciate the defensive tone that was used with us when we did nothing to warrant it. Luckily we were able to walk in at another restaurant and after talking to our server there, found out we were the third table of theirs that night who decided to walk out of 400 Brant.

This place was horrible. Horrible service. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, since it was nice out, we requested to be seated outside, we were the only ones seated outside but shortly after there were 4 more couples seated, all at different tables and after my group, we watched as everyone else's orders were taken, meals were brought to them and they were paying and still not one server came to even offer us water. I don't know how the food was because after being seated and waiting over 45 minutes for a server we gave up and left. As we we're walking away, we watched as the some of the employees watched us leave and they shrugged us off. What a waste of a beautiful evening
Reply to 400 Brant kitchen and bar We were the first ones seated by your staff on the patio and we watched the other customers get seated on the patio as well, even right next to us. We also watched as your staff who looked at us in the corner and nobody came up to us after menus were given to us, Waters were also not brought to us after menus were dropped off. We also look back as your staff watched us walk away and shrugged us off laughing. As they brought over the meals for the people next to us, I personally said it loud enough for your server to hear " either they forgot about us, or they're avoiding us because we're the only colored people here".
