Worst theater I’ve been to in a very long time.
I don’t mind that it’s small, in fact that part was sort of fun. There were maybe 15 people in viewing the same movie so it has this close and connected vibe.
However, I have much better sound quality viewing movies at home and image quality as well for that matter.
And again, I could live with that - you get what you pay for and the price is CHEAP (for good reason).
However, the lights were left on throughout (dimly) so you can’t immerse yourself in the movie the way you can in total darkness.
Even if the lights HAD been turned off, there is a window in the door that allows light in front outside the room and vents along the bottom of the wall also letting bright light in.
Worst of all, the soundproofing is nonexistent. Through most of our movie there was an action adventure movie going on beside our screening room and we could hear the noise, music and (muffled) speech from the audio of that movie for almost the entirety of ours.
It was very distracting. We finally had a reprieve for maybe 15-20 mins when that movie ended and I thought maybe, just maybe we’d get to hear our own movie better but then another movie started next door again though thankfully it was at least less loud than the previous one.
At the same time within the room with the lack of soundproofing within the room and nothing even remotely approaching surround sound, any sounds within the room were so noticeable - someone coughing or rustling something, etc….
The popcorn was not very good at all somehow though it was fresh - just didn’t taste great even with upgrading to real butter.
The young woman working the concession stand was lovely but the young male was overly rude - to her, and to customers.
He clearly hates his job and hates the customers and possibly the world at large. He rolled his eyes at us repeatedly as we ordered - not sure what it was about one large drink and one large popcorn with butter that made him feel a need to be rude and so put upon.
The Dr Pepper was great though and the movie itself was good but would have been far more enjoyable and interesting to watch in virtually any other theater or even at home.
Our reason for being at this theatre was that the movie was near the end of its run and not playing anywhere else nearby but throughout kept thinking I’d have rather watched it at home with better sound and image quality
If I had financial issues I’d rather save up and go out to theatres half as often so that I could have a far better quality experience than what...
Read moreThis is a great little movie theatre. Been coming here for years both myself and with my sons. Was here yesterday and wanted to get around to my review. It’s noticeably smaller then the big, conglomerate, franchise theatres; fewer seats and the screen is smaller, but the seating is closer to it. But the theatres here are very cozy, the staff is friendly, prices are amazing and the seating is very comfortable. Just a much better ambience. Also, this theatre has recently undergone some major renovations and the seating looks new (or refurbished) as do the interior of the theatres themselves.
The staff is always friendly and courteous. They genuinely appreciate your business. And they charge less than half the price of admission as the big box theatres. Same goes for the concessions. Much less than what you pay at other theatres for the same products like popcorn, slushies and candy. And they also have nice coffee maker that makes lattes, teas, French vanilla, hot chocolate etc. Reasonably priced as well. Had the French vanilla yesterday and it was really good.
They play movies that may no longer be showing at the other theatres, so always check out the showtimes which can be found on most movie theatre showtime sites, like tribute.
If there’s one slight negative is that it is located in the heart of beautiful, downtown Burlington, so it can be tricky to find parking when it’s really busy. But there is a public lot behind it that is free after certain hours on weekdays (6pm I think) weekends, and holidays. You have to pay other times and this lot does get full, especially in summer time. But there are other places to park in the vicinity as well, like street parking. But when it’s busy it can be a challenge to find parking downtown. Not a critique of the theatre, but just something to be aware of.
Besides that, overall it’s a great movie theatre and I would highly recommend it and plan to continue...
Read moreNo free parking at the premises - There was no parking available for the movie theatre, so I had to search for a spot.
No seat allocation - Even if you find a free space, seating inside the theatre is on a first-come, first-served basis, so you don't get to choose where to sit.
Small screen - The theatre itself is located within an apartment complex, making it feel more like a home theatre due to its small size, including the screen.
Ticket prices are expensive - They are definitely expensive for the movie experience they provide.
No AC, cheap tricks to save hydro - To make matters worse, they turned down the air conditioning. By the middle of the movie, I was sweating from the heat. When I reported it to the support staff, she said they had reduced the temperature slightly—which seems absurd given that the room was packed for the premiere of GOAT (tamil movie) on first day release. Anyone with common sense could see that such a small, full room would be uncomfortably hot. After I complained, the staff member came in and adjusted something, or at least pretended to, but it made no noticeable difference.
My wife, who is pregnant, was feeling suffocated, but luckily she had her bag with a portable hand fan. Thanks to that, she was able to get through the movie. Otherwise, we would have had to leave halfway through
Unpleasant experience for kids/moms. I even saw parents with their kids standing outside, without watching the movie - probably trying to cool down, and I realized they had likely complained as well, to no effect.
I later found out that other people had also complained about the air conditioning being turned off in the past, and yet the management has done nothing to improve the service. This makes it clear what their priorities are.
This was my first time watching a movie here, and I’m never coming back. In fact, I won’t be going to any location owned by Cine...
