Absolutely terrible experience. Bought a pair of $450 custom filled boot doc liners at JFs recommendation as my ski boots fit a bit too big. I was going to buy intuition liners. But JF assured that they wouldn't work for me and I wouldn't be happy with intuition(probably because they are half the price). They overfilled the liners I bought enormously. I couldn't even walk to the ski lift with them. I came in twice to grind them down. It didn't work. Then thet ground down my custom insoles because they said they were the problem. Now they are not usable anymore as they are aren't the same shape as before and they don't sit flat in the boot. Then they wanted to punch out my boots because apparently they were the problem. Even though I asked for liners because my boots felt a bit too big. They simply could not accept that they made a mistake when filling the liners. They kept blaming me for the problems. When I was rightly annoyed over having lost a ski day when I had to go home after my first run, JF said I shouldn't have just brought my new liners to the hill. And that it was my fault that I expected custom liners to work right away. Though I would expect a $450 product to work. He also said that the blame was on me because I was part of the process of molding. Even though it was JF that lead the process the whole way, and who directed me from intuition liners to these molded boot doc liners. Then they blamed me for my inability to come in. Even though I came in twice and it didn't get better at all. JF also put two different insoles in my liners. And told me a story about how he accidentally molded a left liner in right boot and opposite way around, but the guy figured it worked pretty well so he payed $100 for it. Now JF says this is a lie now. But he was one hundred percent serious. I also have email and a previous review response where he one time claims that I'm lying because it's physically impossible to fit left liner in right boot. And the other time I'm a lier because he only said that it's possible to fit left liner in right boot because they are moldable, so it would work. Apparently he can't make up his mind if it's impossible or very possible. But he told me he had done the mistake, that he sold the liners, and that they guy still used them.
I've asked to store to pay for my insoles that they destroyed but they would only send one pair out if I removed this review. And they only offered it after this review had been posted. Which cost me the last month of ski season as Dave refused to send insoles out before and said he didn't stock them and couldn't get any. And they would not compensate me for the custom molding by a boot fitter that I had had done before, and needed. Because they refused to compensate me for the molding, and because I can't use the insoles without a boot fitters custom molding and bending(just heat molding them doesn't work for my arches), I decided to leave this review rather than accept the insoles that wouldn't work.
The store of course claims that all they want to do is help. I wanted a refund after they didn't work after the first grind. Which they declined. I wanted new insoles back in March. Which they refused to send out. I If they had helped with that instead of grinding down my gear things would have worked out much better. This store should not be an authorized reseller of boot doc and I would recommend anyone...
Read moreHey all, Went to get my first ski setup here as they had the best reviews out of everyone in Calgary and tons of recommendations. I don’t doubt that there are staff here who are experienced and who will fit you right, unfortunately that wasn’t my experience. Being only my second season skiing I went in seeking advice on boot fittings, bindings, and skis, and I’m incredibly happy with my skis and bindings and the advice I received with those. Unfortunately the employee helping me fit me in ski boots two sizes too large, as well as a high volume wide boot when I have low volume narrow feet (at the time I had absolutely no idea and I do think they have enough stock that there would have been better options with a low enough flex, but if that wasn’t the case I wouldn’t expect to be sold boots that didn’t fit). I could tell something was off with the boot and ended up doing more research on fit and I now know I should have brought it up as a concern that my toes were swimming in the boot - I honestly just expected them to know better than I did. I took them back and returned them, they do thankfully have an excellent return policy. I cited the reason as some pressure points popped up wearing the around my house because I was unfortunately still uncertain I was even correct. After going to multiple other shops who took the time to explain boot fitting to me and answer my questions, as well as who were able to tell what size and style of boot I needed and recommended me to other shops that would have boots in those styles, I can’t say I would ever return to ski wear for boot fitting. Again I’m sure there are other knowledgeable employees, unfortunately that just wasn’t my experience and it ended up feeling like a bit of a money grab with the boots. For any beginners looking to see if this is the right place to fit you for boots, I wouldn’t discourage it but be sure to check out other shops like Sundance and FreshSkis for more opinions before committing to an...
Read moreI decided to gear up and try skiing about five years ago. I had a great experience buying ski boots specifically and the staff spent a ton of time getting me the right fit. I dropped more than 2k here. Fast forward to this past year where I actually ran the skis for a full season. I called to book an appointment to have my boots punched. Was told to drive to the NE location as they are much less busy and have all the same tools and experienced staff. When I arrive I’m told they have to send them to 14th location. Frustrated that I drove all the way to NE(I live in Cranston), I agreed and also left my skis to be tuned. Seems they send everything to 14th anyway. I asked them to leave everything at 14th for pickup. I get a text message the next day stating “your gear is ready for pickup”. A few days later I swing in and my skis are ready to go. The boots are not. Seems they are lost in the back somewhere. So they apologize and offer to get them done within the hour. I couldn’t wait for an hour so just said call when ready. So after another trip down there I have all of my gear. Let’s not forget about the 15-20 minute limit lineup before you talk to anyone.
Take my skis out this weekend for opening day at pano, only to find the base material of one of my skis is completely worn through in a good 3” diameter. Black material gone in a random spot. Most people I showed said it looked like damage from the grinder. So I head back in. Wait in line again. Tech says ya, your skis are done. Why didn’t anyone mention this when I picked them up?? And how are they worn through after a second tune? No answer. Just yeah you can ski on them but they won’t do another tune or grind and it’s common with these skis. Don’t think I’ll go back. Colossal waste of my...
