Breakout Escapes — Local services in Cambridge

We have done two rooms here! The Hockey Night in Canada and Board Gamers Beware. Other reviews are correct and Leah is absolutely wonderful. She was helpful with explaining, and when we asked for clues she let us figure out what we could on our own but guided when needed. She also gave us a few extra minutes since no one else was there so we were able to escape!

Hockey Night was great - we went with four adults and two kids (8 and 9), and found that there was enough for all of us to do (and that the kids could participate in!). We didn't quite follow the linear nature of the room but luckily that didn't change the experience - we still got stuck on the last clue lol! We needed a hint but then escaped with less than a minute left.

Board Gamers Beware is the most difficult room, we went with our son who is 11 but loves escape rooms and board games (as do we). This room was VERY linear so in my opinion its difficulty comes from the puzzles but also the time constraint - if you get stuck there isn't much to do but get a hint. We were given extra time and escaped but NEVER would have without the extra time (and some clues)! There is a hint booklet on the wall but beware, sometimes the 'clue' is the answer so you have to be careful flipping through! A loss of star here because one puzzle we were stuck on had a wonky sensor - which we were helped with once we asked, but would have saved us some time because we got it right pretty quickly. One lock was also a 'locker' lock, and while we got the right combo almost immediately we weren't turning it properly lol! Thats on us, but would be very helpful to have a sticker with 'directions' on the back.

We had an amazing time at Breakout Escapes doing the Whodunnit room! The experience was challenging, immersive, and full of clever twists that kept us on our toes the whole time. But what truly made it unforgettable was our game master Lexi. Lexi was absolutely phenomenal! She struck the perfect balance of helpful and hands-off, letting us feel the pressure while gently guiding us when we were close but just needed a nudge. Her energy, attention to detail, and encouragement really elevated the whole experience for our group. You can tell she’s passionate about what she does, and it shows in every part of how she runs the room.
