I first found out about Kim Fat Market on a Chinatown tour. Phong, the owner and butcher, steered me in the right direction for a dish I was making. I also saw that he did catering and decided the next time there was a work function, I would try it. After all, supporting local is important to me. Tonight we had our Christmas party so I ordered from Kim Fat. Phong helped me with the menu, adding items to make sure there were a variety of dishes. He made sure I knew that their catering menu was just a guideline and if there was anything we wanted, he would make it. The food was incredible! Everyone was impressed with the quality. I was worried about having enough food so I messaged him the day of to add more items to the menu. He was very accommodating and made it happen. It turned out the portions were massive and we had a lot of leftover food! I will definitely be using Kim Fat’s catering services again! Thanks Phong for the...
Read moreKim Fat Market is a wonderful hidden gem that more people need to uncover. An old school family owned butcher shop that is true to their craft. Offering premium quality cuts of meat, live fish and shell fish at unbelievable value below the typical prices seen at supermarkets. Meat is always fresh and never frozen or plumped.
We found other butchers to have high prices so like most people we used to buy our meat from Costco, thinking we were getting the best value. However after discovering Kim Fat Market we get premium butcher shop quality at lower prices than we were paying at Costco or any grocery store.
Also we love the friendly welcoming family owned atmosphere, nothing is better when going to the market for meat feels like visiting your friend or neighbour.
I highly recommend Kim Fat Market to anyone. It’s always a wonderful shopping experience and great value for your money. Also...
Read moreWe’ve been going to Kim Fat for meat for years, and after ordering from their take out menu for the second time - I wanted to leave this review in support of one of our favourite local business.
We ordered a variety of 5 dishes: meats, noodles, rice, and everything was so delicious, even the left overs 4 days later. Each dish had an abundance of quality toppings (not fillers), flavourful, great “wok hei” (char flavour), and beautifully presented. Meat dishes highlighted the quality of their meat(s). The standout dish this time was the Kim Fat Style Fried Rice - the toppings were unique, plentiful, and I still don’t understand how the rice and ingredients held up after 4 days. The leftovers were just as good as the first day, rice (and other ingredients) were not dry nor soggy after reheating using a microwave - what?! How?!
Anyways, highly recommended and will continue to be happy...
