The movie was fine, the seating is fine (a foot rest under the seat ahead of each place would be a fantastic improvement), but the price of popcorn (the cheapest snack that can be served) is absolutely ridiculous as is a pop that was well over half ice. $13+ and then add your taxes gives you a bag of popcorn that would cost maybe $.50 to produce at home and the same for the pop. Even after the cost of the containers and any of the coloured, flavoured garbage they pour on the popcorn you are paying them over $10 to serve it to you. Now, it used to be that the popcorn and pop could be refilled once. We've been to the theatre many, many times in the apparently 2 years since they discontinued that practice, yet we did not know the perk was discontinued because obviously we (like many others) very, very seldom ever used the refill option in fact it has obviously been 2 years or more since we refilled anything or we would have known by now that we can no longer do so. Even with the no-longer-available refill option, it was still ridiculously priced popcorn and pop, but the refill option (should you ever choose to use it) took the bite out of the fact that it was grotesquely over priced. The couple we went with last night purchased nothing except their tickets, we'll be doing the same going forward until such time that prices become more reasonable. I would seriously advise that making your customers feel appreciated rather than like captive animals waiting to be gouged would go a long way to increasing your food sales and making every bit as much as what you do by gouging folks and leaving a bad taste in their mouths no matter what they try and wash it down with. I dare say that if you dropped your concession prices and marketed the good news properly and adequately, it would eventually even have a positive affect on increasing the number of movie goers to your establishment. Give our cousins' south of the border credit for maybe knowing what they are doing when it comes to business......let go of the old-school Canadian business mentality of "sell little at ridiculous prices" and adopt the American "sell volumes at lower prices" and you'll see business not only increase, but prosper simply because your customers will feel valued rather than abused. Please treat us like deserving customers and not...
Read moreVery upset with our visit today. We pre paid for the lord of the rings to guarantee our seats. After driving more than 2.5 hours to get here, the staff kept redirecting us because they moved the movie to a different theater screen. A staff member tried to get a manager right in front of us, and she completely blew us and the staff member off. We eventually were told to go into the theater room (in which we've missed about 7 minutes of the show now) Then we were approached by a staff member that said because it got moved to a different screen it didn't have the sound system that we paid for so they wanted to reimburse the movie, to which we asked if we could do it after the movie, as it was already playing and we already missed some of it. They said no problem. Then come 5 mins later, the staff member returns and said the manager wants to do it RIGHT NOW! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE! So we leave and go to the manager, she reimbursed the tickets and then got us to pay again! It was never a reimbursement, it was to refund the difference because the movie didn't have the sound system we paid for. We now missed about 15 to 20 mins of the movie! And no compensation. We had to ask others what we missed so we could get caught up! So we still had to pay for the whole movie even though they made us miss the first chunk and then another 10 to 15 mins of the movie. If it was a general movie we wouldn't be so upset but this is a 1 time show! It's today only and only 2 viewings, and we did not want to stay later for the later show as we live so far. (But they didn't even try offering this anyways.) Overall highly upset and disappointed in management and the...
Read moreUnfortunately, I have found the Silver City Sudbury movie facility and experience to have progressively deteriorated over the years. Moreover, I find their prices to be excessive. Furthermore, their seating arrangements are too narrow. In regard to this, I find their seats to be of poor quality as compared to other local theatres. Hence, I have found my overall comfort experience to be quite poor. To be more specific, I find their seats need more cushion and one shouldn’t have to hold their arms inward as to avoid touching strangers in other seats. The seating experience is more like a budget charter airline seat than a movie experience seat. Despite charging exorbitant prices for their popcorn, at times I find their popcorn to sit around and not fresh with large quantities of kernels. There are usually long waits to get served popcorn or snacks. To be honest, I get the impression that management doesn’t significantly care about the client movie experience despite charging excessive prices for that movie experience. I have found the other movie Sudbury Cinema downtown movie facility to be a much better location with excellent seating to watch a premium movie release. Silver City Sudbury really needs to improve its client experience. It use to be such a great place to have a premium movie release experience. What happened? As it stands, a home streaming movie experience is far superior to a Silver City Sudbury movie experience at a tiny portion of its cost. Hopefully, the above was some constructive criticism as to motivate some changes to improve our local Silver City...
