Let me start by saying that I have been a loyal customer of this store for almost 5 years, and have brought atleast 15 friends if not more to shop from them, from across GTA. But, what happened today has left me mortified.
I went in for our weekly groceries, and while there I realised I need to use the washroom. And, this was an emergency. Due to an undiagnosed medical conditions, I sometimes get uncontrollable need to use the washroom where if I don't within 5-8minutes then the worst can happen. Plus I was wearing a white pant and am on my period. I went to the cashier, and the lady gently said that the washroom on right is out of order, use the one in the left. There would be a boy inside, ask him for the keys. So i ran to the section I was pointed to, and this man told me I couldn't. First he said it's only for the staff, and walked out of that space. I followed him and informed him that his own cashier asked me to get the keys from him/whatever boy was supposed to be in that section. To which he said the washroom is out of order. All this while I knew that i would soon soil my pants due to my issue, and have a huge blood stain on my white pants, i was not only pissed but feeling ashamed oc what others might see. I told him in Canada you can not do this, it's a basic human right, and I know he's lying and i proceeded to storm off with my family (mind you my husband has an issue with his feet and he was limping in his slightly disabled state). He got super threatening and authoritarian, followed me and demanded to know which cashier told me. I shouted while leaving that just because he was being considerate, I will not put someone's employment in jeopardy! He continued to use words like IDIOT, UNEDUCATED and what not as I left. But I was too ashamed of what was happening on my being to stay and respond, as pissed as I was!!! Now THIS MAN - He maybe the owner or an employee, I don't know. He was well over6 ft. Tall, very wide and heavily built and wore specs.
To this man, person, human being: Sir, I hope no woman in your family has to gk through what I did at that moment and in the following half hour. How can you blatantly lie to a paying customer? How can you deny a basic right? How is that ALL your toilets are out of order, when 80% of your front staff comprises of woman. Where they go to pee? For that matter where do the men pee? Irrespective of the interaction, I never used a single abusive word - you had no right of calling me names as I was leaving.
Absolutely unacceptable and sad. So so sad, to face something like...
Read moreUnhygienic, over priced, and rude, this place is a mess and avoid if you care for your health. This used to be our go to place for Indian groceries, but not anymore. The vegetables are ridden with worms and pests, the place itself is not clean. They only carry their own branded pulses, and other food items, and have stopped carrying other brands. Their own branded products have so much dirt, STONES, and worms, that its filthy. They keep the frozen foods like frozen chapatis in open fridges, which do not seem to be temperature controlled. We bought a pack of frozen chapatis which were rotten green with fungi. Yuck! And then they won't take any ownership of their quality. I showed them that the label on the flour said it was past its best before date and the guy said that the printed date is wrong and this stock just arrived. On top of that, most stuff is way overpriced. They don't even honour the offers they advertise. We bought a pack of asafoetida and it said free pack of turmeric. On asking the cashier about it, she rudely said there is nothing free. Don't take it if you don't want it. Excuse me, you cannot be rude when it is you who is being a thief and cheating your customers. I will never again go buy from them. There are many other Indian grocers around (India town, Padmavati, Mr. India grocers, etc.) that would help you prevent a stomach infection...
Read moreI had an incredibly disappointing experience at Dundas Fruits and Vegetables Store, and I feel compelled to share it. The ownerâs behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply upsetting. My family and I stopped by the store, and during our visit, my 2-year-old daughter urgently needed to use the restroom. To my shock, the owner refused to let her use the facilities, despite her being a toddler with an obvious need. This lack of basic compassion for a young child is unacceptable for any business, especially one that relies on community support. To make matters worse, when we politely expressed our frustration, the owner resorted to insulting us, calling us âuneducatedâ in a condescending and hostile manner. This kind of behavior is not only rude but completely inappropriate for someone running a customer-facing business. The store itself may have decent produce, but the ownerâs attitude and lack of empathy make it impossible to recommend. I strongly urge others to think twice before supporting this business. No one should be treated with such disrespect, especially when it involves denying a small child something as basic as access to a restroom. There are plenty of other stores in the area with better service and kinder staff. Save yourself the hassle and...
