A Taste of Authentic Pakistani Cuisine in Tabaq.
Nestled in the heart of Mississauga, Tabaq is a hidden gem that promises a remarkable culinary journey through the flavors of Pakistan. This family-owned restaurant has certainly raised the bar with its authentic and delicious dishes, warm hospitality, and inviting ambiance.
From the moment we stepped foot inside, we were greeted with a smile and whisked away by the vibrant and aromatic atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated with traditional Pakistani artwork, creating an inviting space that immerses diners in the country's rich culture.
The menu at Tabaq is an absolute delight for food enthusiasts, boasting a wide range of dishes that capture the essence of Pakistani cuisine. The food here is prepared with great care and attention to detail, ensuring the flavors are true to their origin. We started our culinary journey with the succulent Seekh Kebabs, followed by the mouthwatering Chicken Biryani, which had the perfect combination of fragrant rice, tender chicken, and a harmonious blend of spices.
Another highlight of our dining experience was the impeccable service. The staff at Tabaq are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their food. They went above and beyond to explain the different dishes and recommend their specialties, making our dining experience personalized and memorable.
To complement the meal, Tabaq offers an extensive selection of Pakistani beverages, including freshly squeezed fruit juices and traditional lassi. We indulged in the refreshing Mango Lassi, a sweet and creamy yogurt-based drink that perfectly balanced the richness of the dishes.
Despite the authentic flavors, the prices at Tabaq are surprisingly reasonable, offering excellent value for money. Whether dining with friends, family, or hosting a special event, this restaurant provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable Pakistani culinary experience.

Read moreThis restaurant is located in the lower level of Newin Center on Dundas and Hurontario St. The food tastes good here and it is fairly priced. However this is by far the worst service a human being can ever experience. I had the chance to observe the Owner during my visit and I can surely tell you he does not care at all about his customers, rather he tries to sweet talk to avoid the situation. There are exactly 4 older women working in the kitchen and a pregnant lady at the cash counter who is taking orders in person and over the phone, bringing the food from the kitchen to the customers and also servicing the the existing customers who are eating there. There is no organization, structure and process in the entire kitchen. All the employees are all over the place. Here’s how my experience took place: I arrived at the restaurant at 5pm and had to stand inline for 20 mins until my turn came up. To keep things simple and hopefully quick, I only ordered chicken tikka combo and Kebab combo (see pictures). I literally waited there until 6pm for them to even start preparing my order. To my understanding they wouldn’t have even started if i hadn’t complained to the manager. This was my first disappointment. I truly wondered what could possibly take soo long to just grill the chicken and kebab. When I observed how they were preparing my order, bluntly I saw the manager take out the pre cooked chicken and kebab from a container and throw it on the grill to warm up the food. After few mins I was finally served after a 1hr wait. I was anxiously ready to eat my food but after I ate my first bite of the Kebab, the meat was very cold. I had to take it back to the manager and ask him to grill it again. This was extremely disappointing. All I have to say is a good restaurant does not build its reputation on only having good food or cheap prices, they need to care about their customer and give them at least a respectful service. No customer deserves to wait over an hour to...
Read moreTabaq is a plaza/mall which is known for discount stuff. Cheaper hair cuts and cheaper food court area. Tabaq is famous for its authentic Pakistani breakfast. Due to good Pakistani style halwa puri breakfast they have become very popular in the Pakistani community. Price is very reasonable and relatively very low compared to other Pakistani restaurants. Dining area is the food court area. First thing you will notice is the chaos and smell/aroma of food. On busy days the order takers are under immense pressure from 100s of people hovering over at the front counter .. each trying to make its way to the order taker. Concept of a que or a line doesn't exist. Taller stronger people easily make it to the order taker. Older of weak people try hard to make it to order taker to place an order. Food is good and very oily and hence delicious lol. For several years we have been placing breakfast order in advance for special occasions such as Eid etc. However regardless of placing order a day in advance we still have to wait an hour before they even try to put your order together. Then once they give you the Channa halwa etc they tell you to go to their other shop which is the one adjacent to order taking shop to get your Puri's (flat oil fried roti). I had to wait there again for Puri's another 20 minutes. Things that should consider improving after 3 decades in business almost are:
Install a numbered ticket dispenser so people can only place order when it's their turn and not based on their strength and age and ability to make it to counter.
Since you do take orders and payments in advance then also be considerate enough to have the order ready for pickup at the time prearranged.
In short Pakistani breakfast is good and well priced but an extremely chaotic place on busy days and they do not seem to have any formal training in restaurant management.
Photos I will take and add when I go...
