Very disappointed in my experience at the Niagara Falls Cineplex. They stand by "rules" rather than customer service. I went to a Wednesday 1 pm showing and there was quite the line up at the concession so I bought my ticket at the kiosk and figured I would pick up my popcorn (can't watch a movie without popcorn) after the movie started and the line was shorter. It was a good movie (Elvis) so I wanted to pick the right time so I wouldn't miss to much. At 1:55 I went to the concession and they told me they were closed (they close 45 minutes after the show start). I was quite disappointed but it makes some sense that they would not keep the concession open to long, When I expressed my frustration they reinforced that they were closed. A Supervisor/Manager was also there an came over and said "sorry we are closed". When I expressed my growing frustration he was very insistent. There was popcorn still in the machine which I pointed out was going to be throw away and there was three staff. This all last for 30 seconds. My disappointment is customer service has changed so much over the years. Gone are the days when an organization like Cineplex would do everything that was reasonable to make the customer happy. This a very small issue and I generally would not even mention it but it is also the same week that Cineplex announced that they were going to charge $1.50 for online tickets and their stocks are continuing to plummet. I love Cineplex (I am a Cine Club member, I have had a Scene Card for as long I can remember and I am also a share holder). I have not given up on Cineplex. I know they...
Read more(Using an alt account merely for identity purposes) I went to see the new childrens animated movie with my two young siblings and were seated at the very top row 2 seats from the end. On the end seat was an old caucasion lady holding a supicious sheet and playing with something under it. Im in no way making assumptions or being stereotypical however she for more than half of the movie was staring at my youngest sibling (5 years old) and it wasnt friendly want a butterscotch candy stare it was the type where whenever id look bacck at her shed pretend as though she wasnt looking and turn her head back fast. I was seated around couples so i wasnt nessacarily scared but it was just weird like i could feel her stare at my brother and it made me feel sick and i didnt want to leave my seat. Once the movie ended and everyone was leaving she remained sitting which was fkn creepy but i took the kids and went the down the other stairs and left staying less than a foot away from a large group of people. I know its sounds as though i was being dramatic but i swear the way she was staring was like an american true crime story It was very disturbing and since it was the late night movie the stands are closed and there are less personell around which i find stupid because given the area with all of the threats leaving a kid unattended at a late night movie where they can be easily drugged and carried out unconcious because it can look like the kidnappers child is frightening. I cant stop thinking about it and sorry for all the spelling and grammer errors im just trying to get this out...
Read moreI'm not sure what happened with the Atmos/UltraAVX conversion at this location, but the cyan safety lighting they use is horrendously bright and absolutely does affect the contrast ratio of this screen, the blacks are always washed out like a poor performing LCD flat panel, it's so bright it looks like cars are parked down the exit ramps shining headlights on the screen. I stopped going to this location, 15 mins away, and if I want an UltraAVX experience I'll drive 35 mins to the Stoney Creek Mountain location which uses the far more pleasant orange/sienna lighting for safety, the difference in the wavelength is apparent, you can still easily find your seat and see the aisle illuminated, but it doesn't shine brightly up onto the screen at all.
If you're going to a regular screening it's not a concern, but if you're looking for UltraAVX, skip the Niagara Falls location. I forgot how bad it was and went to see Spectre there, it was only a few minutes in that I remembered. D'oh! The absolute worst would be any movie with darker scenes like a SciFi space flick, Star Wars, etc., Go to Hamilton Mountain and you'll have a more plasma-like experience.
I've even shown the manager there the difference in the ambient light being thrown on the screen in the UltraAVX screen compared to a 2D screen opposite and he could see the difference but said it's Cineplex corporate that would need to change it. It's clear from Spectre, they...
