United Supermarket — Attraction in Oakville

This is the very worst buffet type food I have ever had. So I've been in there twice since it reopened from Famijoy. I was there late one night, had sesame chicken and lemon chicken. They were both horrible. So dry and tough. You can chew it forever and it never breaks down, it just stays stringy and tough. So I thought, okay, maybe it's just bad because it's late at night and the food is leftover from earlier in the day. My fault. So I tried again one morning (11ish), lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork - it was just as bad - dry and tough. I don't normally leave reviews but I really can't believe how bad it was. It's like shoe leather or plastic outdoor chair material. I really want to like it as the price is good and the quantity is good (hence the two stars). So if you want a large quantity of terrible food for low cost, this is the place for you. To be fair, these are the only dishes I've tried so far. Maybe something is good. I haven't found it yet.

Update: April 2025. I went back and tried the buffet counter again. Got some different items. They were awesome! I don't know, maybe they needed some time to get settled, but the prices are good, the quantity is good and this time the food was good too! I will be back. I might not try the battered pork or chicken for a while but now I'm looking forward to try some other items. Lots of unique sweets and packaged goods there too. I updated my rating from 2...

Although some food prices may be more expensive than other Chinese supermarkets, don’t forget the location and rental price!!Also, it’s super convenient when you have such a supermarket close by and whenever you need something or just have a walk/see, I would be willing to pay a little bit higher to support the business, not to mention some prices are very reasonable and competitive.

This was my first visit to this store since FamiJoy closed: and will be my last. Disappointing selection and grossly inflated prices! On top of that, I visited the takeout counter, where once again, not only did they not offer a two or three item meal but every dish was priced individually and the prices were high there too! And, the takeout counter charges separately which is stupid. I hate to say it but if you don’t get your act together and your heads screwed on straight, then this business will fail too.
