Food is usually fine and tasty. However on a $160+ take out order they missed the kalbi. When I called to ask about it the lady who took the phone call ask me to wait, then there was some commotion in the background and the manager came on the phone. He said in his perspective they always check twice so it is not possible. However he does not believe I am lying either, but will not be replacing the food. Not sure how that makes any sense. Very dissatisfied that they won't own up to a simple mistake. I was not upset that it was missed but rather their insistence that they will not do anything about it..
EDIT after owner's response Yes I did check back on the review the day after as I just couldn't let it go. While I don't doubt that your restaurants have tight procedures and checks and even CCTV, but have you even stop to consider the possibility that the item was mispacked and given to another takeout customer? is your CCTV equipped with x-ray to check every bag? You took the time to investigate and typed out a long response to explain your perspective, which I can appreciate, however all your customers would care about is whether they would be made whole when their order is missing a $30+ item. Might be harsh but I simply do not care about your procedures or your perspective. No system is fool proof so just make it right instead of spending hours of your valuable time to justify why it is impossible for you to make a mistake. What does it say about a restaurant where the whole team is obsessed about being right, customers be damned?
As I said to you over the phone, after speaking with you I did not even want you to replace the food because after such as drawn out and frustrating exchange I would not trust it. I would suggest that you need to consider the emotional intelligence aspect of customer service. By insisting you are infallible and that a mistake is impossible you are in fact accusing your customer of lying. No one cares about your infallibility and how perfect your procedures are when they are missing food and feels ripped off.
Luckily for you you will never have to deal with this troublesome customer ever again. On my end I am hoping to be able to close this matter in my own mind because Owl of Minerva Oakville is not worth another...
Read more@6:30pm, Mar 24th, Sunday, I walked into the owl Oakville restaurant. There were 2 waitresses, one female and one male. Busy time, I understand. I saw that another 2 employees were taking the meals. The female waitress asked me âwhatâs wrong with you?â While I was standing by the cashier counter as I am ready to make a take-out order. The male waitress said to me âthere are 30 mins waitingâ I saidâasapâ. Then, the female waitress asked me to fill up the order sheet by my own. I did and then waiting⌠the female waitress went to take the order with a young man client. I said to herâ I came before that person. You should take my order before himâ the male waitress said to meâ dine-in client has priority than take-out client.this is our restaurant âs ???â The female waitress supported her co-worker. I disagreed with them and left the restaurant. The entire experience was terrible. Next, I went to the owl Mississauga Golden Square Centre. The restaurant had 80% full house, busy! The waitress took my order immediately. Within 10mins, the packed meals were ready for me. I paid $75 incl. tax, $5 tip in cash. Before I left, I asked the waitress âDoes Owl restaurant has a policy that dine-in client has priority than take-out clientâ he answered ânoâ. The waitresses were very warm to me. I am expecting an apology from the Owl Oakville restaurant. The owner should identify the opportunities where to improve the service level . Oakville is a high end community. Zero tolerance with any kinds of...
Read moreI used to really crave the KamJaTang (pork bone soup) prior to the pandemic, but now it's just "okay".
I hadn't been to Owl of Minerva in years, and my friend and I decided to try it again. I haven't had to much on the menu - I come here for the KamJaTang. My friend and I split the "family size" version, which portions are enough for two hungry people. The soup was as I remembered it, bit it didn't have as much pepper seasoning as it used to have. I was a bit disappointed because it's my favorite flavour in the dish. It was still good, but it was missing that "something special". What surprised me was the price of the single/individual dish - it was nearly double from what I remembered.
The service was okay. The staff was efficient, but they don't speak much and do not smile. After we received our food, they did not return to check on us.
The dining area has a run-down sand tired look to it, not terribly attractive. The hallway to the washrooms is used as a storage space, with boxes stacked all along the wall. Washrooms aren't filthy, but are not exactly sparkling clean either.
Overall, this place is okay. Food is decent, but many other aspects of the dining experience could be improved. There aren't many other options in Oakville or Burlington for Korean for food. Don't have huge expectations...
