I’m an employee and a member at Project Climbing Centre in Abbotsford and I’ve been climbing in different gyms for a few years and to sum this gym up a little bit I would say it’s thoughtful, comfortable and packed with potential. The space was really well utilized and had everything you could ever need; the staff was fantastic, very helpful and super friendly, and it was just really cozy in there which is something I really enjoy in a bouldering gym. Like I would love to be there both when it’s not busy at all and packed and both would be a really enjoyable time. The hold types and volumes and layout of the climbing walls was really spot on. If this was my local gym that I was a member at, I’d be left wanting for nothing more. It has a full gym of varied difficulty bouldering and a state of the art training board right in the front of the gym if you out climb the gym. If I had any feedback at all of anything that I’d be looking forward to is if they have local events like a boulder scramble I’d be one of the first to sign up. I visited on June 22nd so shout out to the employees and members that were there that day that made the gym feel so welcoming and great job Mike!...
Read moreMy husband and I came here on a visit from out of town from the states. The staff were extremely welcoming as soon as we walked in. Will helped us sign the waivers, get set up with a day pass, and gave us a brief and helpful tour of the gym and gym rules. Another staff member gave us some fantastic recommendations for local “hole in the wall” restaurants before we left the gym.
This gym is pretty small compared to what we’re used to, but they fit a variety of different styles of routes into the small space, plus a well-stocked gym with barbell rack, benches, dumbbells up to 50lbs, and plenty of styles of hang boards. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was not very crowded, so we had lots of space to climb and not much waiting for access to routes. It was getting a bit busier around the time we left at 3pm. I did notice that there wasn’t a lot of crimp or slab style climbing, which I would have liked to see more of. But, I can’t say that’s typical for this gym since I’ve only been there once. If I was a local to Richmond, I’d definitely get...
Read moreWhile visiting from out of town, we had the opportunity to check out Approach Climbing Gym, and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The facility was spotless and thoughtfully organized. My teen sons enjoyed the challenge of routes up to V5, while I focused on the more beginner-friendly climbs. Accessing the gym was easy with convenient parking. The other climbers at the gym were really friendly and had good climbing etiquette. The walls were a touch sparse and could benefit from a few more routes but I assume this is still a work in progress given that it’s a new gym.
Overall, it's a great facility —I highly recommend it! IMPORTANT NOTE: they only accept...
