Was there on a Sunday July 20th around 8:30pm. Went to self check out and scanned an item, which I changed my mind on and needed it removed from the bill. The employee “Nikki” had no customer service skills and did not speak a word, not even to confirm that she can remove the item. She just came over and sloppily scanned her card and tapped on the screen a few times and left without a word. Not a good experience for a large chain like T&T and a high performing store like this one. It’s the first time I experience poor service as all other cashiers display excellent customer service at this location.
Edit: recently went to the store again. Self checkout was not available as it was past 9pm. I had to use the cashier and “Mindy” barely performed her job. No greeting the customer, no helping customer bag items. She did not even move the grocery items she scanned so customers can bag it themselves. Seems was there to do the bare minimum and the store was not busy at all. The only time she spoke was to call out the amount due, which felt unwelcoming. There are other cashiers that do their jobs well at this location and exceptions should not be made for low performers such as her. Makes me question T&T’s hiring practices and standards for front line people to keep people who have no standards for their own work.
Edit again: revisited the store, seems like they have too many staff at work at PM shift. The cashiers are not busy enough and have time to make side comments. Such an employee was “Grace” (short hair middle aged woman) whom I found not courteous and service was an annoyance and inconsistent between customers. Management should just allow self service checkouts after the cut off time to save customers from the headache of these employees who think they are providing a service when in fact just being a nuisance. Read moreI always shop at T&T Supermarket at Lansdowne location. Yesterday (November 17, 2021), I was again at the store shopping for my weekly groceries and my experience was terrible. It was around 9:30am (I can't remember the time exactly but before 10am for sure) when I was selecting packaged pork meat at the open fridge and there came a lady staff from the meat department standing beside me and putting packaged meat taken from her cart to the fridge rack. There was no interference between us as she was putting meat at my left side and I was choosing meat from an adjacent rack . She appeared very impatient and claimed that I was interfering with her work and I should wait till she finishes before I take meat from the fridge. This really surprised me as I was taking meat from a different rack and why would she ask customers to wait for her to finish? Can she not think of ways to accommodate? I didn't say anything at the time and continued what I was doing. Anyway, I then saw packaged chicken meat from her cart and I picked one up wanting to put in my shopping cart. Her attitude became furious, repeating many times that I was causing a safety concern because things could fall from her cart. I am fine with putting the meat back and not touch them but it is her attitude that is totally unacceptable. She accused me for doing something unacceptable and treated me with no respect. When I pointed out that she should not treat customers with that kind of attitude, she started arguing with me and the customers nearby saw her yelling at me in loud voice. It was such a small incident and what a drama! I feel like the lady staff from T&T is not happy with her work or life and she expresses her anger toward the customers. T&T management needs to do something about this. At least, teach staff to treat customers...
Read moreI had a really bad experience at the checkout tonight.
Due to the heavy snow and upcoming holidays, we bought A LOT of groceries which took time to ring through the till. My mother tried to pay with AliPay and WeChat Pay which are accepted by T&T (and that’s one of the reasons why she likes going to T&T).
Yet due to the bad internet and phone service, the payment failed. Aware of other people waiting, and knowing that my mother would insist to pay, I suggested we could go to customer service to vacant the counter for the next customer. However, the cashier advised me his system would only allow the transaction to be paid with him because of point redemption.
While my mother continued to try(with her 2 phones, both her own data and T&T’s public Wi-Fi) the customer behind became impatient. Instead of explaining why our transaction took longer than usual, the cashier forced me to pay with my visa by blaming us for holding the line for too long, resulting the customer behind us criticizing us without knowing the situation.
The cashier’s knowingly blaming us for holding line to cover his system limitation was unprofessional and unacceptable.
Maybe T&T doesn’t want us to buy this many groceries as large number of items take long to ring through.
Also, if T&T does not accept AliPay/WeChat Paydue to unstable internet connection, it shouldn’t advertise so.
