This mall has come a long way since I was a kid in the 1990's, it's gone from a veritable dump to an unclassy but conveniently located mall. However the fact is that the mall has a bunch of junky stores that sell low quality merchandise or have bad service (the exception being the London drugs, a decent all round store that has good service, which is generally the only reason I go to the mall) and the patrons of the mall reflect this. People smoke outside despite the no-smoking signs, people talk loudly on their cellphones in the clinic, people budge in lines, cut you off and stand too closely behind you while you're waiting. Save-on-Foods has got to be the worst thing that happened to this mall, Safeway wasn't a class act, but it was significantly better than this dump of a store with bad produce, bad general products, overpriced meats, terrible service and a downright depressing atmosphere. Lowe's is a terrible home improvement store, home hardware on Tillicum had it beat for product selection despite the significant size difference in the stores. Winners occasionally has a good deal but generally has poor quality merchandise, home Outfitters is overpriced Wal-Mart, and old Navy can't sell you a piece of clothing that lasts over 2 months.
The bathrooms at this mall are not conveniently located and are generally not very clean.
I feel angry, depressed or anxiety ridden when I...
Read moreLondon Drugs, Lowe's, Save On and Winner's are all anchor stores at Tillicum. A walk-in clinic, dentist office, insurance outlet and watch repair round out the services available here, and there is a drive through TD Bank located just outside. (I believe there is also a hair salon and! a lotto counter.) The Tillicum side of the mall boasts a large Mr. Pet's, a liquor stop and an Old Navy, while, Anytime fitness, Starbucks and Fabricland are treasures that shoppers can find on the side of the mall that face the large Cineplex and community centre complex (Pearkes Community Centre). (Pearkes is home to a Greater Victoria public library branch, community rooms a gymnasium and ice rinks - there is more, but this is about Tillicum, not Pearkes.) We have only visited the A&W Burgers and the Starbucks, and have yet to try the Greek and Thai eateries that round out the restaurant food offerings in the mall. *There is also a Starbucks in Save On Foods. The mall is serviced by public transit, has ample parking in the front and rear of the mall and is also enclosed by walking trails for people who like to explore, and / or, have dogs Tillicum is an excellent centre to be proximal to. We frequent the Tillicum mall because it has so...
Read moreI have always thought that this mall didn't have much to look at, now it seems to have even less to look at. While there are a couple of anchor tenants that one might want to go to regularly, mostly one could find anything in here somewhere else. The parking is free. The mall seems to be fully accessible. There are a couple of little concessions in the bottom floor but not really anywhere like a restaurant to eat.
Update: The only reasons to go to this mall really are Lowe's which has a clean bathroom too, Winners, and London Drugs. Or maybe if your grocery shopping at Save On. It is convenient that Winners and Lowe's are open late on the weekend unlike most malls which seem to have nothing open on Saturday in the evening. There are a couple of bathrooms in the mall but they can be sketchy. There always seems to be parking available in the parking lot and it is free so that is a plus. For safety, I'm not sure. I have seen some dust ups between security or store employees and people who are in various states. So I suppose whether or not you like this mall or want to go there depends on what your objective is for your...
