I was very disappointed with my stay in the Weider Lodge.
While the room was nice, I paid an additional 15 dollars for closer underground parking. For some reason, there was NO PARKING AVAILABLE for the place I was staying at and had to still park far away from where I was staying, which was troublesome as I had ankle pain and a lot to carry. I ended up having to park on the opposite end of the underground parking lot from where I was staying. There were no signs indicating underground parking and it too me 30 minutes to find the underground parking and a space for me to park.
Then when I got to the room, it was very nice, however the fireplace did not work, and neither did the heat. I spent the night freezing in my room in the Weider Lodge. In the morning when I got up to make my coffee, there was no filters for the coffee machine. I went downstairs to the front desk to ask for some but there wasn't even anybody staffed at the front desk, which made checking out difficult to even figure out how to do. It turns out you can fortunately check out over the phone, but it would be nice for them to have told me this from the beginning.
Overall the room was nice and would be even better if the heat & fireplace worked so I didn't freeze to death and if the convenient parking I paid extra for actually had available spots, and if they staffed the facility properly.
I'm often wary of websites like AirBnB, but when I am back in January I will be using AirBnB instead as clearly there is no accountability for the official...
Read moreOur stay at Weider Lodge Suites was generally okay, but it ended in a terrifying and unacceptable incident that completely ruined our weekend.
On Sunday, July 13th between 3–4 PM, we were checking out when the elevator suddenly stopped between floors. To our shock, the doors opened even though the elevator was not level with the floor, and one of my children fell through the gap to the outside of the elevator. In a panic, my wife instinctively reached out to catch our child, but the elevator door closed suddenly on her leg and would not reopen, even though we tried using the emergency key.
My children were screaming and crying in fear. I had to physically force the elevator door open to rescue my wife and children. Her leg was badly injured, and the emotional trauma of the incident was overwhelming for all of us. Our children are still shaken and afraid to use elevators since that day.
We did not stop at the front desk or call emergency services at the time because we needed to calm our children and get to safety as quickly as possible. However, we feel strongly that this situation cannot be ignored.
What happened was extremely dangerous and could have ended far worse. I am writing here to inform everyone, specially families with children to be more careful with these elevators in Weider Lodge. The elevator system appears outdated and unsafe. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend turned into a traumatic experience, and we are deeply...
Read moreWe went during spring break and were pleased with the check-in desk service.
Overall, the staff is quick. There is no room service option at the Weider Lodge but the housekeeping is quick. Oliver and Bonacini grill is a short walk, and so is Copper Blues Restaurant. The outdoor hot tub is a good supplement to the property after a long day on the slopes.
Pro: Entrance door is at arm’s length from the ski ticket centre, retail stores and Group/Private Lesson area.
The biggest advantage is the easy access – ski in and out to the Coors light lift chair. You are paying for the location and convenience. As well, you are right in the heart of Blue mountain village.
Con: The place is old and carpets smell and the washrooms very old and need a makeover, I guess. The flush system chokes frequently. The fireplace in the lobby does not work and has been like that for a while we were told.
Parking: $15/night underground and over ground outdoor is complimentary for...
