I went to watch Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (English version) in IMAX at Cineplex Odeon Eglinton Town Centre, expecting the large-scale, vibrant experience that IMAX is supposed to deliver. Unfortunately, what I got was far from it. From the very beginning, I could tell something was wrong. The Tron: Ares trailer that played before the movie had a strange yellow tint instead of its signature red visuals. Even the Crunchyroll intro, which is normally bright orange, looked dull and yellow. Once the movie started, the same issue continued – the entire screen had a heavy yellow tint, making everything look washed out and unnatural. Characters who should have clear, vivid colors looked dull, and the overall picture quality felt nothing like what the trailers and promotional material showcased. When I raised this issue with the manager, she admitted that they didn’t know much about the quality and said they were simply playing the print provided. She also mentioned there “could be a problem” and that they would raise it to IMAX/Cineplex’s main office. She gave me a refund, but what was frustrating is that it seems the theatre was aware of the problem yet still continued playing the movie in this poor condition for paying customers. The bigger issue here is that Cineplex is marketing these showings as IMAX, but what we’re actually getting at this location feels like a downgraded version. After checking, it looks like this theatre is still using older IMAX Xenon projectors, which cannot reproduce the brightness and full color range of IMAX Laser. That would explain the dim, yellowish image. Other fans who watched in true IMAX Laser or Dolby confirmed that the movie has vibrant, sharp, and accurate colors – nothing like what we got here. For the premium price Cineplex charges for IMAX tickets, customers deserve transparency. If a theatre doesn’t have proper IMAX Laser projectors, Cineplex should make that clear instead of selling it under the same “IMAX” branding. Right now, it feels misleading – we’re paying for IMAX quality, but only getting the name. Very disappointed with this experience. I hope Cineplex and IMAX take this seriously and fix it, because fans expect a premium viewing experience, not a flawed, washed-out version of one of the most anticipated anime films.

During our recent visit to Cineplex Odeon cinema at Eglinton Square Center for the second time, we were excited to watch Mission Impossible 7 in the IMAX theatre. However, to our disappointment, the movie was not shown in IMAX format. Despite this setback, the seating was decent, as we managed to book corner seats since the middle ones were unavailable. The sound system, on the other hand, was excellent and greatly enhanced our movie-watching experience. One notable advantage of this cinema is the ample parking space available, making it convenient for moviegoers. Additionally, they have wheelchair accessible washrooms, which is a commendable feature, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors. Inside the cinema, there are food courts where you can grab a bite to eat before or after the movie. On another occasion, we visited for the first time and watched Avatar 2 on a regular 3D screen. Unfortunately, the sound quality was poor, which slightly affected our overall enjoyment. We acknowledge that it would have been beneficial to check the IMAX screen instead for a better viewing experience. While the seats were okay, it's worth mentioning that they were not recliners. It's interesting to note that even small towns in India have recliner seats, which sets certain expectations for larger cinemas like Cineplex Odeon. Overall, our experience at Cineplex Odeon cinema Eglinton Square Center had its ups and downs. The cinema could improve by ensuring the advertised format matches the movie being shown, maintaining consistent sound quality, and considering the inclusion of recliner seats for added comfort.

Don't get me wrong, I like the movie choices I get at this place most of the time, but this last time I went there the situation was really bad. I attached the photos of the seat I had to sit on. It had a stain mark and the whole surrounding of it was disgusting and filthy. I brought it to the attention of one of the team members there but she said it's normal. I would've left if I didn't have so much intention to watch the movie I was there for. Moreover, the sound quality for that specific movie in the theater was so bad that I had to cover my ears every time any music started playing. I saw some clips on Youtube for those but none of them sounded bad. That only points to the bad theater sound system. The only good side this time was the movie was great, otherwise it would have been the worst experience one can possibly have at a movie theater.

In all my years going to the movie theatre had I never imagined that a group of kids WHOM BY THE WAY WERE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT BUT HE STEPPED AWAY FOR A MOMENT TO GRAB SOMETHING WHILE THE ADS WERE SHOWING ON THE SCREEN, would be kicked out.

The manager is a complete nightmare.

Instead of waiting for the adult to come back and sit beside the kids again before the movie began, the manager used his power hungry authority to not even do that.

Instead of waiting for the adult to come back and ensure that he would be staying with the kids through the entire movie, he kicked them out.

Instead of thinking “hmmm maybe I can get someone to check on this group to ensure that indeed the adult stays with the kids for this movie”, he kicks them out while the ads are rolling.

What is the point in adult supervision IF THE KIDS GOT KICKED OUT OF THE MOVIE BEFORE IT EVEN STARTED AND BEFORE THE ADULT WAS SPOKEN TO?

the movie was Halloween and the kids had been talking about it for weeks. Was it a discrimination issue? Why Not allow the kids and the adult stay to watch the movie?

Yes the money was refunded but unfortunately for that manager, his lack of people skills and intelligence won’t give those kids back their, what was supposed to be, fun Halloween night.

Perhaps the conclusion of their terrible experience was maybe the manager just wanted to enjoy Halloween and not work. If that’s the case, he’s got the wrong job and should probably not work in customer service because he lacks the correct skills all around.

I’ll make sure that when I go back to that theatre that I don’t have to get up to use the washroom and leave my kids because they might just get kicked out.

Or

I’ll just ask him to babysit my kids while I use...
