It is difficult to express my disappointment with the food here. I fear that unless English is your primary language the sheer power of my disdain will be lost. We ordered an appetizer of garlic bread which, when it came, took on the form of 4 inch pizza disks covered in a melted cheese that most likely had been ripening for years with regular massages of sweaty feet by an armada of barefoot sewage workers. The aroma so burned my nostrils as to make my whole body recoil with such force I fell out of my chair and started to hallucinate while simultaneously vomiting in my mouth. Luckily, I had a full 1/4 cup of tepid, old, water to rinse out my mouth.
I ordered the crab spaghetti, which looked appealing in the picture. My spirits began to rise. My first bite defies description but I will try. It was as if Pizza Express had somehow harvested the garlic of ten millennia and using the force of neutron stars compressed it into a singular dose of essence so powerful it could destroy the universe and casually mixed it in. Never in my life has my mouth, tongue, lips, throat and stomach burned with the blaze of a thousand suns—all from garlic. I never knew that such a thing could be done. Even as I exhaled to diminish the fire within my mouth my workmates recoiled, choking, from my now toxic breath. Even another 1/4 cup of tepid, old water could not diminish the eternal hell-fire in my mouth. I had been unwittingly transformed into a golden dragon of garlic death, spreading death an destruction unto all I spoke to.
Pizza Express, I have traveled the world and eaten in more countries than i care to count and the one dish—the ONE DISH—you can always count on to be safe is spaghetti. You, Pizza Express, have violated that sacred bond and trust of restaurateurs world-wide by making such as abomination as that.
I wish that instead of giving you the number of stars you deserve that you would just have to eat your own dishes. That would be...

(Burrata mozzarella, olive, cherry tomato, fresh basil, Parmesan, rosemary, tomato sauce) The burrata and basil were placed after on top of the warm crusty pizza. The burrata slowly melt like cream; the chemistry of burrata and fresh basil gave a light and refreshing taste to the pizza.
(Crab meat, anchovy paste, garlic oil, parsley, chilli flakes, white wine, lemon juice, lemon wedge) The seafood aroma of crab meat and anchovy paste enhanced the savoury taste. Simply nice!!
(Fettuccine in a rich, slow cooked meaty bolognese sauce) Fair... This dish tasted a bit heavy comparing with the crab meat spaghetti. The fettuccine felt like fresh pasta, and meaty bolognese tasted a bit dull.
(Freshly brewed every morning, ultimate refill) Thick slices of fresh juicy lemon floating in aromatic black tea. Tiny pitcher for self-pouring syrup, self-control sweetness. Ultimate refill of cold black tea.
Sweet, warm, kick of ginger taste on umami No tea, only the above 3 ingredients and hot water. Serving in a tea pot and cup Amazingly, it still tasted okay after...
Read moreOn a return of a trail, we were hungry and decided to stop at Pizza Express. It was my third time in this chain but I didn’t remember that food was soooooo bad
Post covid Hong Kong cut dramatically costs
We ordered a pizza with chicken. The first pizza took 30 minutes to arrive totally uncooked at the dough level
As they recooked it, they redone it much more cooked but still, the crust was super wet and the pizza was simply uneatable
I spoke to the manager who aknowledge that « the dough of all pizza express restaurants in the world arrives frozen from Pizza express’s main lab in England » 🤮
Then the pizza is finished with toppings on site and cooked in a cheap oven by staff who can work in any fast food the next day
The result is, without suprise, the same than making a frozen pizza in your oven as a student
It’s shouldn’t be called « Pizza » if the dough arrives frozen on site
We were very hungry but decided not to finish the pizza. The manager kindly offered us an extra pizza for take away !
We politely refused because a such a poor food quality and pay the full bill ☹️
It was my last time at a Pizza express. Better eat a sandwich on the way than getting that
Btw staff could hardly speak English (GM did) and service...
